21.01.2022 Those doggie teenage months (years) can be really trying for pet parents. Way too many adolescent dogs are surrendered to shelters who grew out of the cute puppy stage and became too much for their owners. But this can be prevented if owners know what to expect and how to handle and train their "teenage" dogs right. This is why I am so passionate about the juvenile/adolescent age group, because I think it is the most challenging age. A great webinar is coming up which is for ...pet parents, trainers - anyone who deals with young dogs under 2-3 years of age. "HOW TO LOVE & SURVIVE OUR TEENAGE DOG" Mon 17 August 7pm AEST, $20 Presented by Barbara Hodel, President of the Pet Professional Guild. 21.01.2022 Introducing a new baby to your existing dog can be tricky. Dogs should be prepared months in advance before the arrival of a new baby so they can adapt to the changes more easily. This short course by the RSPCA NSW helps you prepare you and your dog for the changes a noisy little two-legged human will bring to your lives. https://enrol.vetenrol.com.au/(S(keuaeucbyxbwjqxibdaujs0w))/Enrol?1185697641

15.01.2022 We often get asked the question: what age should dogs be desexed? It is a difficult one and opinions vary by vets working in a shelter environment vs private practice, animal behaviourists that studied the behavioural changes of desexed dogs. To make things even more complicated, here is a new study about the effects of neutering/spaying dogs and the likelihood of developing serious medical problems (joint issues and varios types of cancers). ... If you open the link, and scroll down, you'll find a short summary for each breed that was studied. It is interesting that some breeds are recommended to be desexed beyond 2 years of age or never... Even if it is too late, and your pup is not entire, it is worth reading up the risks so you can be vigilant for changes and get help sooner if needed. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles//fvets.2020.00388/full

12.01.2022 Funny and clever but it may cause more barking problems if the dogs can see onto the street...
