25.01.2022 Welcome perspectives from newly appointed White Ribbon Australia Executive Director Brad Chilcott: "Aspiring to be a good male role model is about much more than controlling aggression. Its a man who is willing to listen and learn. Who is aware of their power and privilege and chooses to utilise them towards cultural and political change. Its someone who is determined to share power in their relationships and hold on to their privilege loosely, knowing we all benefit when everyone is equally valued, included and given the opportunity to flourish" https://www.theguardian.com//it-is-all-men-to-varying-degr

21.01.2022 For over 10 years, the first Wednesday in May has been an occasion for Australians around the nation to commemorate those lost to domestic and family violence. As we physically distance ourselves due to COVID-19 during this time, we invite the South Australian community to connect socially and responsibly in a virtual vigil on Wed 6 May, with a physical gathering planned for a safer date later in the year.... Light a candle. Stand by us. #VigilSA #StandByUs

21.01.2022 Today, June the 3rd is Mabo Day. Mabo Day commemorates the courageous efforts of Eddie Koiki Mabo to overturn the fiction of terra nullius (land belonging to no-one), the legal concept that Australia and the Torres Strait Islands were not owned by First Nation peoples because the lands were not used in ways Europeans believed constituted some kind of legal possession. The legal decision was made by the High Court in Mabo and others v Queensland (No 2) (1992) on 3 June 1992.... It paved the way for First Nation Land Rights across Australia. Unfortunately, these necessities are temporary and come September many will be plunged back into the constant stru...ggle to make ends meet. 15.01.2022 What a powerful initiative ABC journalist Nas Campanella who is blind, and Auslan presenter, Sarah Lewis who is deaf, have created a video for South Aust...ralian women with a disability who are at risk of domestic violence or elder abuse. The informative video is in response to problems highlighted by the Disability Royal Commission and recent SA enquiries into the care and treatment of people with disabilities. Women with a disability are more likely to suffer domestic violence or elder abuse, but far less aware of their rights and the legal services that can help them. We want to make information as accessible as possible by removing the barriers that some women with disabilities commonly experience when seeking information about their rights and options." - Legal Services Commission of South Australia Commission Director Gabrielle Canny.

03.01.2022 Violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women is not an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander problem. Nor should Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people bear sole responsibility for addressing it. This violence is an Australian problem, and it is perpetrated by men of all cultural backgrounds. We must come together as a united community and be the ears, eyes, heart and head. This means keeping our ears attuned, keeping our eyes open, having a heart of compassion and a head that will makes us act, and act safely
