21.01.2022 It’s possible now to donate embryos that are affected by a genetic condition, as long as the genetic condition doesn’t severely affect quality of life. We are glad that the advocacy of lots of people, including Embryo Donation Network, has resulted in changes to the guidelines that fertility clinics follow. As long as the embryo recipients are well informed the embryos can be donated. Great news!

20.01.2022 Research shows it’s important to tell children early if they are donor conceived- but as a society we haven’t always recognised this. This story reminds us of the deep hurt that can be experienced by those not told about their origins until they are teens/adults. It’s normal to be apprehensive about telling children they were donor conceived. We hope that the info will help parents think it through and be well prepared before conversations with their kids, so they can be focused on the needs of the child.
