25.01.2022 Today we helped celebrate the return of Puffing Billy after being locked up in Covid iso for 250 days. Such an iconic part of our area. Welcome back Puffing Billy, we’ve missed you!

25.01.2022 Shout out to our mates out at Macclesfield CFA for the great work they do with large animal rescue. We know how to handle fires, but horses and large livestock.......mmm not so much! great to know they’re there if we need them. Well done Maccy!

25.01.2022 Our crew were out and about tonight refreshing there breathing apparatus skills. Anybody see them around Main Street?

24.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our CFA dads out there.

20.01.2022 Our sincerest thanks to Simon National Carriers for getting this very important delivery done in an amazing timeframe. Our CFA family really appreciated it. Special thanks to Simons, National Operations Manager and fellow CFA member (Edithvale) Mick West. Top effort!

18.01.2022 With the fire season fast approaching it is critical that our fire fighters sharpen their skills before summer arrives. Unfortunately, since March we haven't been able to hold face to face practical training due to the Covid restrictions. We have been busy doing remote Zoom based training, but we are certainly looking forward to getting back on the tools shortly. We received some great news today that some limited practical training that directly relates to fire season preparedness can resume shortly. All training will be conducted within strict guidelines approved by the Chief Health Officer and we will be out and about soon.

17.01.2022 Please take note of the warning below and take care in the area.

16.01.2022 Local crews were kept busy today with a grass and scrub fire in Dewhurst. Our thanks to multiple local brigades for their support with approx 10 tankers required for crewing and to assist with water supply. A reminder for all that the fire season is close. If you haven’t started your pre summer clean up yet, best you get on with it!

12.01.2022 Remembering 343 of New York's bravest.

11.01.2022 Please take note and find another route if possible.

11.01.2022 Just a reminder to anyone who was burning off yesterday, we’ve been called out to a number of grass and scrub fires over the last few days which have originated from burn offs. Please check on any recent burns, the pile should be cool enough to touch.

08.01.2022 Our crew had a fun day today, helping Santa bring a little Christmas cheer to Emerald. Santa even made some new friends including our mates in blue. Thanks to everybody who came to see Santa.

07.01.2022 Sadly, so soon after losing our beloved Simon Arnold, our brigade is again mourning the loss of another family member. David Davidson Little was universally known simply as 'Doc' and passed away today, peacefully in his sleep after a battle with cancer. Doc served in the Emerald brigade from 1995 - 2017 and was a very active and passionate member. Doc was a special man with a huge heart and always had time for everybody, he was always up for a chat and was genuinely intereste...d in what you had to say. It is often said, but Doc really was one of those people who would give you the shirt of his back if you needed a hand. Doc held the brigade rank of Lieutenant for several years as well as being our brigade delegate to the Dandenong Ranges Fire Brigades Group and VFBV Dist 13 Council. Doc had a lot of experience around trucks and machinery and one of his legacies will be the huge amount of time he contributed to driver training in the CFA. He mentored many of our brigade drivers in obtaining their truck licence but on a broader scale he further volunteered as CFA District 13 driver training instructor. He loved spending his time passing on his significant experience and was especially fond of the off road training courses. Doc was a stickler for the rules and processes and there would be many a District 13 driver who received a slap on the left wrist if you dared keep your hand on the gear stick between changes or weren't driving to the Hendon system! Doc was also handy on the tools and had several idea's to improve the features on our trucks, some of these idea's finding there way on to future production runs on new tankers. Our local residents will remember Doc as the original proprietor of the Swish Swash laundromat in the main St. From here Doc was widely known in the community. I would hate to think of Docs weekly coffee bill at the shop, his kettle was rarely cold between everyone dropping in for a chat and a cuppa - he truly loved it. Doc was a big man with a big presence, he was a storyteller had integrity, respect and an old school sense of right and wrong and was a friend to many. He will be sadly missed. Farewell Doc, thanks for your service and your friendship, rest easy now mate. Paul Yandle - Captain

07.01.2022 Please, slow down, concentrate and drive safely. #TowardsZero

03.01.2022 The fire danger period will be lifted for residents within the Cardinia Shire as of tomorrow. Shire of Yarra Ranges have not been lifted at this stage.

02.01.2022 Our brigades have never crossed paths (which is generally a good thing) but we are united by our shared friendship of Doc. Thank you Seaham Rural Fire Brigade for sending Doc off with the respect he deserves. So sad we couldn't have a few members up there to join you today. - Captain Paul Yandle

02.01.2022 COLLISION REPORT; Police are disappointed with the number of collisions attended over the long weekend despite the publicity around road safety and an increased... police presence.
