25.01.2022 Did you know, although one kilo may not sound like much to us, but 1kg is 25% of an average cat's weight. If a cat is carrying 1kg more weight than it is meant to be, that equates to a mid sized person being 16kg heavier than their ideal body weight!

22.01.2022 Did you know? Baby guinea pigs, known as pups, are born with fur and their eyes open and are able to run when only a few hours old.
21.01.2022 During lockdown, our staff have enjoyed all the extra cuddle time with your pets during their visits but we are happy to be moving forward and are pleased to let you know that we are now able to allow one client at a time in the building. Please do not enter the clinic and call the reception team to announce your arrival. We will continue to bring food and medications out to you in the car. If you are concerned about entering the building due to personal reasons or have been unwell with flu-like symptoms please let our staff know so we can make appropriate arrangements.

19.01.2022 Happy National Pets day to all animals great and small! This day is advocating for the adoption of pets from animal shelters. Animal Welfare advocate Colleen Page started this day in 2006, to create public awareness for the animals awaiting homes in shelters. On this day, people are encouraged to love their pets, spoil them, adopt pets and volunteer at local animal shelters.

09.01.2022 Have you seen any sick wombats in your back paddock? The good news is that you can help! At Emerald Vet Clinic we provide Wombat Mange Kits to help protect one of our favourite wildlife. Mange is caused by a mite which infests the skin making them feel unwell and very itchy. Where a burrow has been found that belongs to one of our sick friends a flap can be attached so that the anti-parasitic liquid falls onto the wombat when they run into their burrows. Please stop by the clinic if you think you can help our furry friends become furry again.

06.01.2022 HAVE YOU SEEN A TICK IN EMERALD BEFORE? Ticks are more common than you may think, they jump onto our pets and bite into the skin, attaching themselves to consume blood from your pet whilst doing so they can also release disease and bacteria into your pet. There are three main ticks of concern in Victoria. The Bush and Brown Dog Tick are very common in Emerald and surrounding area. While they usually won't cause severe disease, they can cause a lot of irritation for your pet. ...If there are multiple ticks on your pet at the same time they can consume a lot of blood which can affect your pets health. The Paralysis Tick can make your pet EXTREMELY sick. As the name portrays, it causes paralysis of your pets muscles by injecting a toxin into the blood when it feeds. This condition is life threatening condition and your pet should be brought immediately into the clinic for care. These are more commonly found in Gippsland so ensure if you are taking your pet on holiday with you that their tick prevention is up to date! Please give us a call at the clinic if you have any questions on 03 5968 6600.

02.01.2022 1. Why do humans buy scratching posts when there are so many available in the house already. 2. I am beginning to believe the red dot can not be caught. 3. You keep taking my poop - Thats just weird..... 4. I find your lack of appreciation for dead mice disturbing. 5. If I fits I sits.... 6. Don't let this cuteness fool you. I WILL scratch and bite if you touch my belly. 7. 5am already! I'd better wake someone up for breakfast I have a long day of sleeping ahead of me. 8. Its a good place to sit, I chose to sit here. 9. Say nothing they'll blame the dog. 10. We were worshipped in Egypt. I would like that tradition continued in this house. What do you think your cat is saying about you?
