16.01.2022 Ryan Aitken is 2013 Club Champion By Dennis Fuller The last of the three round Emerald Golf Championships took place last Saturday in glorious sunshine with the fairways and greens in fabulous condition. No feeble excuses would be accepted for ordinary golf although many were proffered.... Ryan Aitken (10) lead from the front from the first round and played excellent, solid golf, to finish with the Club Championship mug in his hand and an aggregate gross score of 239. Following him home from a little distance was Captain, Andrew Cutting (10) , on 244 and then Peter Stevens (10) on 248. B Grade replicated the pattern of A Grade with Leigh Morison (19) leaping out of the barriers on the first round and was never headed. His gross total of 257 was just enough to hold off a fast finishing Dean Aitken (15) on 258. Quite a way back but still smiling was Dave Jennings (21) on 272. C Grade saw the pattern continue as Peter Glasscock (25), playing in his first championship, held his nerve to win with a gross total of 293. Next in the sheds was Ken Sumsion (28) on 305 one stroke ahead of Dave Aitken (27) on 306. The handicap A Grade championship went to Ryan Aitken with a net 208 from Mark Starick 213. B Grade followed the pattern with Leigh Morison winning on 198 from Dave Jennings 207 while in C Grade the only man to buck the system was Brian McCoy, who won with 206 from Glasscock on 218. The daily comp and B Grade went to Dean Shannon with a net 66. Ryan Aitken headed up A Grade with 69 and McCoy headed the C Graders with 70. Ryan Aitken rounded out a successful day by hogging the nearest the pins on the 4th and the 7th, Cutting managed the same trick on the 12th and the 13th ( greedy pair of suckers!) while Steve Town eclipsed the mob by pocketing the pro pin lolly on the 18th.
