21.01.2022 We are at the Castlemaine State Festival tonight and we are happy to report that there’s no monkey business a foot. The Castlemaine State Festival began in 1976 through the vision of founder Berek Segan AM OBE and has now grown to become Australia’s longest running flagship regional arts festival. The Festival preceded any other Victorian arts festivals and has been unique in its scope and diversity, and in its impact on the social and cultural fabric of central Victoria and ...environs. The biennial Festival commissions, develops and presents a thrilling program of events encompassing performance, music, literature, visual arts and film and is known as major contributor in connecting people and developing social wealth within the regional community.

15.01.2022 Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter) is seen here with Emergency Medical Response Medic and Trainer Jasmine and Admin Officer Shaun at the Mad Max 40th Anniversary held at the Maryborough Harness Racing on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019. RIP Hugh Keays-Byrne has passed away at the age of 73. He was best known for playing Toecutter in the original Mad Max and Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road. It is 41 years since he tore up the back roads of Australia as the axe-wielding leader of a motorcycle gang in the first Mad Max movie. Pursued to his death by Mel Gibson's leather-clad avenger, Toecutter met a suitably grisly end beneath the wheels of an oncoming truck.
15.01.2022 #BREAKING: 723 new Covid-19 cases today which includes 255 in regional areas. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced everyone across Victoria must wear a mask or a face covering when outside their home from 11.59pm Sunday night. Mask wearing in public has already been made mandatory in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire, and Mr Andrews said the decision to make it mandatory across the whole state was based on advice from the Chief Health Officer. "It's some...thing we can do in regional Victoria without causing significant economic cost but getting a significant public health benefit," Mr Andrews said. There are 255 new active cases in regional Victoria, 159 of which are in six local government areas -- Colac-Otway, Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Moorabool, Golden Plains, and the Borough of Queenscliffe. Residents of those council areas will not be allowed visitors to their home from midnight tonight. "It’s vital we stop this virus further seeping into regional Victoria," Mr Andrews said.
13.01.2022 WHERE IS YOUR HANDBAG NOW? Many families have been spending most of their time at home lately and the Poisons Centre has seen an increased number of calls regarding toddlers and children accessing medications and other products around the house. Many of our calls are the result of children getting into handbags which are often left sitting around.... Where is your handbag now? What does it contain? Common items found in hand bags which can cause serious harm to children include: * medications including tablets, eye drops, nasal sprays * hand sanitiser * button batteries * essential oils Keep your handbag out of reach of children and check the contents regularly to reduce the risk of harm. Call the Poisons centre on 131126 for further advice following any suspected exposure. #preventpoison #poisonsinfo
11.01.2022 As per the Victoria’s roadmap for reopening How we live in Metropolitan Melbourne announcements today, our Enhanced Online Learning First Aid Training will recommence in our Training Centre in Northcote for all members of the public on September 14 onwards. To book: http://www.emergencymedicalresponse.com.au/first-aid-publi/ In the current COVID-19 environment, we now have enhanced online learning programs. The face-to-face assessments are currently strictly capped to up to four participants, and run for between 30 and 145 minutes in Northcote, Bendigo or Ballarat, depending on the course. 11.01.2022 The GoodSAM App will be reactivated in regional Victoria next Monday, 19 October 2020. As you may recall, GoodSAM was restricted for community responders in March this year as a precautionary measure in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and when there was limited scientific knowledge of this novel coronavirus. The decision to reactivate GoodSAM now is based on international evidence that shows a very low risk of COVID-19 transmission when providing hands-only CPR or using a ...defibrillator. Nonetheless, the decision whether or not to respond to a GoodSAM alert is a personal one, and should be based on your circumstances. Action If you are in regional Victoria or are travelling within regional Victoria, you may receive a GoodSAM alert if someone nearby you is suspected to be in cardiac arrest. You can choose to accept or decline this alert. At any time, you can select to be ‘off-duty’, which will ensure that you do not receive any alerts. Simply open the GoodSAM App, go into your ‘me’ profile and make sure your ‘report on duty’ setting is switched off, as pictured below. For your safety If you accept an alert, you must wear a surgical mask that covers your mouth and nose and place either a mask or cloth over the patient’s mouth and nose. If you have gloves and safety glasses, you can also put these on. For your safety, please leave the scene once paramedics or emergency services arrive and take over care of the patient, and please remember to practice good hand hygiene. Importantly, if you are not well or have a cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, loss or change in sense of smell or taste, or fever, chills or sweats, do not accept the GoodSAM alert. Questions If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected]. You can stay connected and up to date via Ambulance Victoria’s GoodSAM Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/GoodSAM.Victoria/ We know that when cardiac arrest happens, every minute counts and when someone begins CPR while paramedics are on their way, the chances of surviving cardiac arrest dramatically improve.

05.01.2022 Wearing a face covering is a small action but it can make a big difference. When attending our First Aid face-to-face assessment sessions, you'll now need to wear a face covering. If you don't have one, one will be provided by Emergency Medical Response. That's why Victoria's Chief Health Officer is making it a requirement not just a recommendation. Here's how it'll work:... If you live in metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and you need to leave home for one of the four essential reasons, you must have a covering over your mouth and nose. If you're travelling into regional Victoria for work or care reasons, that covering will need to remain on for the entire time you're there. If you live in regional Victoria, you'll need to wear a face covering if you visit metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and we're still recommending you wear one in your local area if you can't physically distance. There are a few exceptions. Kids under 12, those who have a professional or medical reason or if it's just not practical, like when you're out running. In our schools, that'll mean teachers don't have to wear a face covering while teaching but students attending for VCE, VCAL or for onsite supervision will. Everyone will be expected to wear one on the way to and from school. This requirement won't be enforced until 11:59pm on Wednesday 22 July to give people a chance to buy or make a covering but if you already have one, please start wearing it now. And if you don't have a mask, a scarf is better than nothing. As with everything, this shouldn't be about looking for loopholes. It's about each of us doing something small to keep everyone around us safe. If I'm wearing a covering, I'm helping to protect you. If you're wearing one, you're helping to protect me. And if we all wear one, we're all doing our bit to slow the spread.
