08.01.2022 Classic bride I love a bride that isn’t afraid of a bold lip like @elbrough here wearing @maccosmeticsaustralia ‘Russian Red’. Now I know & understand bold lips can be scary due to potential smudging, not feeling as thought they suit or not being sure which shade to go for so instead going with a light bridal pink which feels safer. Here are my top tips for brides considering wearing a bold lip for their special day:... 1. Opt for a wearable red: one that suits your skin tone and one you feel suits the occasion and the vibe you are trying to create. For example - vibrant reds can scream ‘sexy’ or draw attention and darker shades are more classic and elegant. So if your not sure of your shade, make sure you do a bit of shopping, work out ‘your’ shade (as there freaky is one for everyone) and try some on. 2. Practice wearing it - at home, out in public on a random Sunday. At the end of the day, you are the one wearing it and you must feel comfortable and confident in your choice. Also helps knowing how to eat and drink sometimes depending on the brand of lipstick you choose and if it’s long lasting or not (also potentially practice a kiss or two with hubby-to-be to see the end result). 3. Layer your lips so the products last longer - a lot of the time your makeup artist will start off with a lip liner (tip: apply lip liner to the entire lip and not just the lip line) and then move onto the lipstick. Make sure you either have these products or if you can purchase them from your makeup artist for touch ups throughout the day/night. 4. Top up/touch up and hydrate like a pro - as mentioned, make sure you have the same lipstick for touch ups through the night however also depending on what brand and if it is a gloss or matte lipstick. If it is matte, I would recommend a gloss or lip balm to keep your lips hydrated, keeping your lips looking luscious, plump, hydrated and most of all not cracked and flaky.
