09.01.2022 POWER DRESSING Power dressing came about in the 70’s as women were trying to establish their authority in a political and professional environment that was ...traditionally dominated by men. Power dressing equals confidence and allows you to express the position you have through the clothes you wear. This morning I went to a BNI networking event. I pulled out my trusty power outfit. I wear this same outfit every time I have an interview, an important meeting or when I’ve spoken at events. Why? This outfit makes me feel powerful and confident, and I feel that this is conveyed in how I hold and present myself. Power dressing is a strategy, it’s not vanity. The psychology of power dressing evaluates how we feel on the inside. Clothing is about who we are and what we want to portray to the world. When we look better, we feel better, and this creates a positive cycle of self affirmation. See more
