12.01.2022 Are you ready for the fireworks on New Years Eve? Here are our top New Years Eve tips (.....for your dog!)... - make sure your dogs microchip details are up to date! And if your dog isn’t microchipped please microchip them! - make sure your dog is wearing a collar with a name tag (and preferably your contact phone number) - use a diffuser with Adaptil ( a doggy feel-good pheromone/smell that is proven to be calming) or a collar that is filled with it (call us to discuss these two products). - if you are keen on essential oils (never to be used directly on your dog!) there is a theory that lavender and chamomile are calming whilst rosemary and peppermint produce the opposite effect. - consider a "thundershirt" if you already have one (a tight fitting vest which provides a calming pressure around your dogs midsection) - sound proof your dogs kennel (think Clark Rubber type noise dampening rubber). - sometimes "white noise" like the airconditioner, washing machine, radio, TV(etc) can be used to block the noise of the fireworks. - if your dog doesnt have a kennel or crate then try to ensure they have a safe place to hide (preferably their favourite place rather than one you decide on). - provide your dog with its own entertainment- eg a kong stuffed with frozen peanut butter or cat food. - make sure you are calm too! - if your dog is food motivated throw them their favourite treat after each loud firework- BBQ chicken (skin off) is the best! - if you have tried all of these and your dog is still worried there are definitely medications which can help- we are always happy to work with you to find the most effective one. please call us 66523455 with any questions! 10.01.2022 A very sad day today, Emlohruo Country Boy / ‘Denver’ came home to be buried in the garden, near his Grandfather ‘Dallas’ and his dad ‘Dillon’. In his 14th year he had a great life with Jan and John, who loved him dearly. Rip little man you was I in a million..
