16.01.2022 LET'S CELEBRATE- THE FESTIVE SEASON IS UPON US!! Hands up if you're extra excited this year for The Festive Season? Our family { especially my 2 kids and I who love Christmas and all that the season brings at the best of times} are punching the air in glee that Christmas puddings and cooking items are available at Woolies, Myer has once again delivered with gold, red and green decorations draped around the store and November is finally here! The three of us have bonded be...yond belief this year with our 2 long lockdown stints { as if once wasn't enough!} and our efforts at "Home Schooling" { I use this term very loosely !!!} We have come out the other side of this year's difficult period and are now looking forward to spending time with our family and friends, partaking in some delicious Christmas foods { Fruit Mince pies and Lemon tarts from Bakers Delite are my fav's} and decorating our "real" Christmas tree { The smell of fresh pine far outwighs the pine needles that drop continually over the course of its stay} as well as inflating our new Reindeer and Santa that will be stationed in our front paddock. 02.01.2022 HALLOWEEN 2020-FUN IDEA'S IN PLACE OF TRICK OR TREATING... Let's face it 2020 has seen us face so many setbacks that to learn our kid's aren't able to go door to door in our local neighbourhood's Trick or Treating was no surprise but was met with great disappointment { If my 9 year old Daughter's reaction was anything to go by!} This year it's all about improvising and thinking outside the square. There are many fun alternatives to Trick or Treating. Here are 3 simple an...d inexpensive idea's to get you started - 1. Set up a Trick or Treat Treasure Hunt in the backyard. Be creative! Have a list of 5-10 spooky clues. Use some props you may have from Halloween in past years to create lot's of atmosphere! 2. Host a Halloween feast at the end of the Treasure Hunt with all the goodies collected! Set up a table inside or outside {if weather permits} Use your imagination to transform your table into an " All Hallow's Day" focal point. Add some extra fun to a large or small pre- carved pumpkin with lollipops poked throughout. To create "Lollipop Ghosts" simply cover each lollipop with white tissues and fasten an elastic band over the top. Finally add 2 black dots for eyes. Simple and easy! 3 Make some " Witches Wine" " Bats Blood" and/or "Spooky Syrup" Find a bottle and start by writing your brew on some paper and burn the edges. Dab with a wet teabag and sprinkle with coffee granules. Leave to dry and stick label on the front of bottle. Add whatever your kids enjoy to drink. A Halloween orange concoction- Fanta or home made OJ with a black brew- Sarsaparilla or cola are our families fave's! See more
