20.01.2022 Three reasons why family sessions at home rule: . 1. Activities!! All around us Dave used to play guitar in a band so there are a variety dotted around the house, including this cute ukulele. This moment came so naturally when Ed picked it up and they sat down to play (read pluck) together. These scenarios are endless - reading books, dancing to music, swimming in the pool, baking, playing cards! It’s all about what you love doing as a family! . 2. Details!! When I photogr...aph families at home there are so many small but oh so personal details that help capture life at this time.. those books on the shelf, the fridge covered in magnets from around the world/invitations/kindy paintings, the hand drawn lines on the door frame remembering Ed’s height at this age. My photo collections are more than just the people portraits and I love seeking out these telling details to accompany them. . 3. Comfort!! Some people just feel more comfortable in their home environment, and that’s totally ok, I get it, it’s private and personal. In most cases the temperature can be controlled, let’s be honest that’s a big win so we don’t melt in the qld summer heat!! For kids especially there are limited new distractions - win - snacks, outfit changes, even the loo - are all on hand!! Win, win win! Not to mention, favourite toys are a great ‘in’ with the little ones and Ed took great comfort in showing me his digger collection proudly on display shortly after I arrived. Cute! . Don’t get me wrong, at home shoots aren’t for everyone, and I love outdoor adventures just as much, for all their own merits .
