If you have any lying around at home or are going to a supermarket today, we would greatly appreciate you popping a couple of extra milk cartons into your trolley. ... 23.01.2022 Everyday we are humbled by the amazing support we receive from our community. The generous St. Mary's Primary School Ipswich community surprised us with a delivery of 'gift bags' with beautiful artwork the students had decorated on each bag. The gift bags contain a selection of food and snacks including items like noodle cups and lollies for the homeless and vulnerable in our community. ... We can't thank you enough for such a thoughtful and kind gift, it really makes a difference to the lives of people living on the streets.

23.01.2022 Just a reminder that we will be closing the doors of Emmanuel City Mission from Monday 5 April for one week so our team can rest and recharge their batteries for another awesome season of service. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 12 April.

22.01.2022 In light of the Premier’s announcement regarding a Greater Brisbane lockdown for three days, commencing at 5:00 pm this afternoon, Emmanuel City Mission will be observing our COVID safe restrictions once again for everyone’s safety. This means we will be limiting the number of visitors in venue to 2 people at any time over the next three days and will be resting our volunteers who are 70 years or older. We will still be serving up hot take-away style lunches in the carpark ...of Emmanuel City Mission to the homeless and vulnerable. Stay safe everyone and god bless.

21.01.2022 The safety of our visitors and volunteers is always our top priority. With that in mind we have decided to continue with our Easter Festival, with some slight changes as we continue to observe our COVID safe plan. What does this mean? On Good Friday and Saturday we will be extending our opening hours and offering all our visitors a takeaway style evening meal. We will also open our doors on Sunday from 9am 12pm. ... We hope to provide our visitors with a weekend filled with friendship, food and familiarity so no-one feels alone this Easter. See you over the weekend!

21.01.2022 Day two of lockdown and the generosity for our homeless and vulnerable brothers and sisters continues! Ambrose Treacy College has pioneered an incredible army of Catholic schools support! Thank you for continuing to be there for us, especially in times when we need it most. Here is father and son, Matt (staff member from ATC) and Charles (student from Villanova College), dropping off a car load of much needed supplies.... 06.01.2022 Spare a thought for those sleeping rough tonight as temperatures are set to drop to a chilly 8 degrees. These cold winter nights remind us why our mission to feed, clothe and support the homeless and vulnerable in this city is so important. After a long and cold night many people will flock to our sanctuary in the morning for nourishment, warm showers and a place they can just feel welcomed and safe. ... We will be waiting with open arms.

05.01.2022 We wanted to take a moment and do a massive shout out to our amazing volunteers who have played a pivotal part in keeping ECM open right throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, 7 days a week. We have been able to continue serving the homeless and vulnerable thanks to an army of young, healthy volunteers who have stepped forward to be on the frontline during this public health emergency. We will be forever grateful. In particular a huge thankyou to Australian Catholic University (ACU) who have joined with us to mobilise their students to help us deliver our mission.

03.01.2022 Staff Spotlight! I'm sure most of you know our dedicated Centre Manager. For those who haven't we'd like to introduce you to Eddie, an ex Special Education teacher, part time Prison Chaplain and loving father and grandfather. Eddie has been working at Emmanuel City Mission for over 5 years and has been a pivotal part of the team from the beginning, helping us transform the centre into what it is today.... "Seeing the changes in people and the evolution of their heart and mind is what keeps me coming back every day. I love sitting back and listening to the stories people have to share, it is very humbling to be trusted and confided in, on a daily basis." It is because of dedicated people like Eddie that we can continue to do our vital work, day in and day out.

At Emmanuel City Mission we aim to speak out against all forms of violence violence in homes, violence in our community and violence at our centre. ...
