25.01.2022 What is your colour contrast doing for you - is it enhancing your shape or doing the opposite? When there is a division between colours in an outfit and the contrast is high i.e. light/dark, dark/bright, the eye will always be drawn to that area. In the first outfit, attention is drawn to the silver necklace making the wearer appear taller. ... In the second outfit, all the attention is drawn to the pants because the pants are light and the top dark. In the third outfit, there is no definitive colour contrast and the eyes move smoothly up and down the body. Give your outfit the eagle eye - where is your eye being drawn? ____________________________ #emmapeadonstyleartistry #styleartistry #colouranalysis #styleforeverybody #styleover30 #styleover40 #imageconsultant #canberrastylist #canberrastyle #closetconfessions #easystyle #womeninbusiness #canberrasmallbusiness

24.01.2022 Puff sleeves are SO HOT right now! On trend! Totally fashionable! These sleeves can 'puff' anywhere along the length of the sleeve, from shoulder to cuff. Happily there's a puff for almost every style personality and every shape ... IF YOU'RE PETITE avoid over-scale puffed sleeves and those that have an almost 80 angularity about them. Your best sleeves will have only slight to modest puff. IF YOU'RE FULL-FIGURED or SHORT your best styles will be those that do not create too much width at the waist or hips. Look for tops or dresses that have waist shaping to lessen the chance of looking blockish through the middle. Keep your puff higher on the sleeve! The FEMININE style personalities are loving this trend and have already endowed their closets with several puffed items. For the DRAMATIC and CREATIVE personalities, you'll likely to love some of the more angular, almost space looking puff interpretations on offer (that's me). But keep in mind puffed sleeves are sure to be a passing fad - so don't splurge too much on them... unless you're blessed with plenty of dosh...(buy me some?!) See more
24.01.2022 Prints are great for adding interest, mood and personality to a garment but have you ever thought about getting that background colour perfect for your print? Ha ha probably not! But hey, let me help you out (I'm kind like that)! If you have DARK hair and/or skin, your best prints will have a medium to high contrast on a medium-dark to dark background. If you have MEDIUM depth hair, your best prints will have a medium contrast on a medium depth background.... If you have LIGHT hair and skin, your best prints will be those with medium contrast colours on a light to medium depth background. Once you've had a colour analysis, you will discover ALL the fabulous colours that look great on you - and how to work with those that are not your best but you still want to wear. Virtual or face to face consultations - I can offer you either - just send a message! See more
24.01.2022 Prints! I can't get enough. Spring fashion brings them out in force too. Prints can add interest, balance a figure, create a mood and they can cheekily reveal a bit of your personality (share it with the world I say)! The print in this outfit is a great example of 'print power'.... The colours in the print are uniting her two plain solid coloured garments, as well as acting as the third essential element to make the outfit look complete. Without the long print tunic, the outfit would have been much less interesting. In addition, this floral print type is adding both femininity and oriental elegance to her look. I'm definitely a printaholic... Do you go wild with the prints or stick to your solid colours? Tell me so we can compare! #emmapeadonstyleartistry #styleartistry #colouranalysis #styleforeverybody #styleover30 #styleover40 #imageconsultant #canberrastylist #canberrastyle #closetconfessions #easystyle #womeninbusiness #canberrasmallbusiness
24.01.2022 More talk about Prints! If you want to start bringing print into your wardrobe without drawing too much attention, you can keep your look toned down by wearing a printed garment under another layer... it will ease you into the world of prints. However if you want MAXIMUM impact, wear the print as the top layer! ... Want to go crazy with print? 24.01.2022 Hoop earrings! A classic accessory I love. They look great on every woman If you take your face shape into consideration, you can make those hoop earrings look even more spectacular on you: If you have a long face, go for medium to large, round or embellished hoops.... If you have a round or square face, elongated hoop or drop styles will be your best choice. #emmapeadonstyleartistry #styleartistry #colouranalysis #styleforeverybody #styleover30 #styleover40 #imageconsultant #canberrastylist #canberrastyle #closetconfessions #easystyle #womeninbusiness #canberrasmallbusiness See more

22.01.2022 Online clothes shopping can be successful if you ensure you follow a few rules. Here's a few tips (aka a short novel) to guide you: Know your measurements - Waist, hips and chest are a must, while inseam and sleeve length is also helpful. This great guide https://www.dummies.com/health/how-to-get-your-body- can assist in measuring (so can I!) Check the online size chart every time - no two labels are ever the same! A size 14 in one brand is a 12 in another - go figure! ... Check the material. Is it stretchy? Is it stiff? How do you want it to feel on? Do you want movement or do you want structure? This can help if your measurements don't all align to the size chart - e.g. my waist measurement is always a bigger size than my other measurements, so I work off my bust and hip measurements to choose a size, then look for materials or shapes that will accommodate my waist. Check the model's measurements (if provided). Models are often tall and slender - what might be knee length on them might be calf length on you. If they have a catwalk video, watch that to to get a sense of how the garment really looks. Check the returns policy - if it doesn't fit can you get a refund or only an exchange or store credit? Personally, I rarely buy if I can't get a refund on an incorrect size. Search hashtags - if you have Instagram you can often find current pieces worn by women of all shapes and sizes - this is great to see how a garment looks on different bodies and not just on the store model! Use PayPal - you are more protected if the transaction turns out to be fraudulent. Lastly - ignore the label! Sizing varies so wildly, don't get hung up on the tag - it means nothing! Use your measurements, cut that tag off and feel bloody fabulous! Happy shopping!
21.01.2022 Ladies! Take a deep breath! I know the sales are enticing but a bargain is not a bargain if it hangs in your wardrobe unworn. If you are planning to treat yourself with a few clothing purchases I want you to be selective! Ask yourself:... Does this item reflect my style personality? Is it in a colour that looks fabulous on me? Is this item flattering my (already fabulous) figure? Does it go with 3-5 items in my wardrobe?! If you can that list off then you can be confident you are making a wise purchase - I mean, you are practically SAVING money If you can't answer those questions then treat yourself to a style session with me - it's an investment in yourself! What exciting things do you have your eye on in the sales? I have my eye on a Trenery dress... and maybe some more makeup (can't get enough)!

18.01.2022 Spring has sprung and every year it brings linen back into the stores - the glorious warmth of Spring and Summer are the seasons that linen lives for. DID YOU KNOW... Egypt linen was used for mummification and for burial shrouds because it symbolised light and purity as well as wealth. Linen was so valued in ancient Egypt that it was often used as currency (trade you my Kmart linen shorts?!).... The Bible also mentions that angels wear linen! Linen fibers have no elasticity and because of this, the fabric will eventually break if it is folded and ironed at the same place constantly. Personally, I know it's a natural fabulous fabric.... but I can't handle being instantly creased! What about you, yay or nay? P.s this snazzy suit is on sale from Perri Cutten: https://bit.ly/2MsdfHV See more
18.01.2022 You don't have to cinch in your waist or wear something tight to create a flattering silhouette. Something as simple as layering a cropped jacket over an otherwise shapeless dress will give instant waist emphasis. So great for those of you, like me, that don't have much of a waist line (or hate wearing belts) - fake it! ... 18.01.2022 I am all about a great dress! But I want to be able to wear my dresses on all occasions - for both work and play. 17.01.2022 Accessories add that final touch to an outfit! Pizzazz! Icing to a cake! Accessories can be used to: unite different garments into an eye-catching outfit instantly align your look with today's trend... create a mood and change the formality level of an outfit. Easy! However, when you go overboard with your accessories you risk looking cluttered and distracting. Too few, and the look can be underwhelming, possibly (dare I say), a touch boring. Take 30 seconds each day to count your accessories and focal points before you head out. Count how many focal areas your outfit has. Once you reach four, it's time to remove items, particularly if you want a corporate business look! 3-4 maximum focal points are perfect. Your aim should be to keep you and your face the focus of your outfit. 15.01.2022 Florals Feminine! Fabulous! Fun! Florals are often considered a soft, romantic look and some may feel they lose their authority if they wear them in the workplace. Alas! You can still wear them in the workplace and give the impression of 'boss lady in charge' ... Look for: Sleek silhouettes in a conservative length Stylized or abstract prints Deep colours or dark backgrounds The most professional florals are those that are more stylized in form rather than realistic, and those on dark backgrounds. Pair with slimline silhouettes, a structured bag and top with a blazer or coat for added authority and professionalism. More tips available in person - book a style or colour session before Christmas and be on your way to ongoing style confidence. Message me - let's talk!
15.01.2022 Hats! So chic in Summer! They can really top off an outfit (and hide bad hair days). In choosing a hat, there are little things you can keep in mind to really nail your hat selection. Scale is one aspect.... As a general rule, unless you are tall and slender, wide brim hats are best when they are no wider than your shoulders. Any wider and you can end up looking like a mushroom (I guess that could be a look?!). Right image Left image See more
14.01.2022 A little black dress or 'LBD' as it's known, has become an iconic fashion and wardrobe staple! To find the perfect one that will fit, flatter, and stand the test of time: Choose a classic shape and style.... Make sure the fabric is pure black. Look for a silhouette that flatters your shape. Choose a neckline that compliments your face shape, neck length, width, and bust size. Seek out a fabric that showcases your body - smooth satin highlights toned curves, sheer fabrics hint at what lies beneath, and soft silks will glide over your curves. If black is not your best colour, look for a fabric surface that will help counteract the colour by adding highlights such as shiny surfaces or sequins. Likewise, look for a neckline that exposes as much skin as you can - this can include a strappy dress. Ensure the length is perfect for your vertical proportions and legs. And if black is really not for you, follow the same principles but in a colour of your choosing (hint: Navy is FABULOUS) #emmapeadonstyleartistry #styleartistry #colouranalysis #styleforeverybody #styleover30 #styleover40 #imageconsultant #canberrastylist #canberrastyle #closetconfessions #easystyle #womeninbusiness #canberrasmallbusiness See more
14.01.2022 I love the psychology behind colour - dare I say you can create subconscious magic through the colours you wear, after all, 62-90% of a first impression is due to colour! When people meet for the first time, the vast majority of their first impressions are made up of colour recognition. Studies suggest that those who consistently wear neutral colours or black, make fewer positive first impressions (ooh sorry black lovers), but those who wear brighter colors are more lik...ely to form friendly bonds. Supposedly, wearing hints of red (for women) or blue (for men) on a first date could lead to stronger feelings.... and a higher chance of a second date! While those who wear black for a job interview are more likely to be hired... (personally I think navy is more powerful - and classy). Anyone care to test this out and let me know?! 14.01.2022 This Coronacoaster has a lot to answer for! If, like me, you have perhaps indulged a little too much and are holding some extra *ahem* 'padding', then I've got us sorted with some style trickery to flatter those abs (or as I call them, 'flabs' ha ha) One, or a combination, of the following will sort you out:... RUCHING: These clever folds are amazing at hiding rolls. PRINTS: Use these to great to break up space. Geometrics are best HIGH WAISTLINES: As you can see in this photo allow the fabric to fall gracefully past a tummy. VERTICAL FEATURES: Think jackets to long scarves. Great for visually elongating an area, which always slims. SHAPEWEAR: Miracle workers that prevent wobbles. FLUID FABRICS: These cause a beautiful drape to slim and flatter a full middle. Now... off to have a snack! See more
13.01.2022 A wardrobe full of 'classic basics' is the most versatile wardrobe - a winning way to build a solid foundation for your wardrobe that works hard for your money and gives you the most styles. A CLASSIC is a simple shaped garment that suits most shapes and has stood the test of time. A BASIC garment is one that you can base many outfits on and will be wearable for many occasions.... Combined, you've got a great mix and match classic basic that you can build a great look from. But the moment a classic garment has too many lines, shapes, details or decoration, it moves from a classic basic to a classic costume - and it's not as versatile or useful over the long term. A classic costume becomes more of statement piece rather than a foundation piece - and you can't make those pieces work as hard for their money! See more
13.01.2022 The way you wear and pair your pants and shoes can really impact your style! Tall, long-legged women look fabulous in medium to very wide pants and lengths from cropped to floor. Medium to medium tall, slender women who have a balanced horizontal or long-legged body shape can wear just about all widths and lengths.... Short or curvy women are best with bootleg, straight or tapered pants in long lengths. Cropped pants should end at an inward curve of the calf and never at the widest point. When pairing footwear if you are short, short-legged, petite, or curvy: Pair footwear that is medium to high Has a point to tapered toe and an open vamp Is in a colour that blends with your outfit or is nude to elongate and slim your legs. Avoid ankle straps where possible, or if desired look for a style with narrow straps and in a colour like tan or nude. Rolled and mid-calf hemlines, dark or bright ankle straps, and high vamp footwear are all excellent at making legs look shorter and chunky I'm here to boost your confidence with an in-person or virtual personal style consultation - it's 90 mins that will have you feeling confident in your style choices!. 11.01.2022 Everyone can wear pleats! Those with flatter hips should find all pleat styles easier to wear. Those with rounder hips will find that pleats that are sewn down over the hips sit much better.... If you are full bodied below your waist, avoid open pleats. And always ensure the garment fits well so the pleats stay closed! See more

06.01.2022 When you LOVE those pants or shoes but know that below your waist isn't your best region, what are you to do? Well - don't give up! There is a simple solution! ... Balance the focal feature (where you DON'T want to draw attention) with another at the opposite end of your body, that is equally as strong. This image is a perfect example. The ripped knee jeans on the lower half, and embroidery on the top half, perfectly counter-balance each other so the eye isn't drawn to one particular focal point. See more

02.01.2022 Colours and emotions are closely linked but did you know they can also affect your mood? Energising colours Strong, bright colors and neon colors can have a powerful effect on mood. Colours like bright red, bright yellow, and neon green can make you feel energized and more alert. Highly saturated, strong colours like royal blue, turquoise, magenta, and emerald green can also make you feel refreshed and energised. Great for some Saturday morning exercise right?!... Happy colors Happy colours are bright, warm colours like yellow, orange, pink, and red. Pastel colours like peach, light pink, or lilac can also have an uplifting effect on your mood. The brighter and lighter a colour, the more happy and optimistic it will make you feel. Perfect to get rid of any Monday blues! Sad colours Sad colors are colours that are dark and muted. Grey is the quintessential sad colour, but dark and muted cool colours like blue, green, or neutrals like brown or beige can have a similar effect on feelings and emotions depending on how they’re used. Wear these if you need to watch the Notebook and have a good emotional cry! Calming colours Cool colours like blue and green can make you feel calm. Pastel colors and particularly cool-toned pastels like baby blue, lilac, and mint have a calming and relaxing effect. Neutrals like white, beige, and grey can also make you feel calm. The fewer colours you combine and the more simple and pared-back an outfit is, the calmer it will make you feel. Might be useful around the kids?! Ha ha Warm colors Warm colours such as red, yellow and orange often evoke feelings of happiness, optimism, and energy. Red can also increase your appetite. Hmmm I don't need my appetite increased! But I'll take the other benefits anytime. Cool colors Cool colors are calming and soothing but can also make you feel sad. Its hard to be sad when you're cool though... Source: 99 Designs See more
02.01.2022 Midi length is anywhere from just above the knee to just above the ankle and it's a length that not only looks fabulous on most women, it also allows freedom to sit as you like, hooray! To find your midi sweet spot the following tips may assist: Look where your leg curves inward or outward - hems located at these points create the look of shapely, attractive legs. ... But make sure the curve on your legs mirror each other - if they are irregular (and this is normal!), don't end your hemline here but take it above or below. Avoid hems that fall at the fullest part of your calf, especially if you have thick ankles or are wearing low/flat heels. If you are short or feel a little on the heavy side (damn you corona kilos!) select skirt midi lengths that are slim rather than very full. With fuller styles, be sure to highlight your waist and add heels to add some 'long and lean' into your look. See more
