25.01.2022 Starting Science Week 2020 off with some colour

25.01.2022 Operation Christmas Child 2020 Thank you so much to everyone that contributed to Operation Christmas Child this year. What a massive effort made by everyone History... In the summer of 1993, Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham received a call from a man in England asking if he’d be willing to fill shoeboxes with gifts for children in war-torn Bosnia. Franklin agreed, but figured Christmas was months away. He forgot about the promise until he received a call back around Thanksgiving asking about the gifts. Franklin asked his friend the late Pastor Ross Rhoads of Calvary Church of Charlotte to see if he could help with the need. A Sunday shortly afterward, Pastor Rhoads demonstrated for his congregation how to fill a shoebox with simple gifts and encouraged them to include a letter to the child as well. Within weeks, the church had 11,000 shoeboxes lining their hallways. Due to their generosity and additional gifts from Canada, Samaritan’s Purse sent 28,000 shoebox gifts to children in the Balkans that Christmas. Every year since, Samaritan’s Purse has collected shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 178 million children in more than 150 countries have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love. Tens of thousands of volunteers from local churches around the world partner with us to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ at festive outreach events where children are surprised with these shoebox gifts.

23.01.2022 The Nothing Poem!! Couldn’t have said it better

17.01.2022 A beautiful morning visiting the the Jarravale Alpaca & Miniature Animal Farm. Some benefits of interactions with animals include: Social and emotional skills Interacting with animals helps children to work on their social skills with no pressure. After all, animals are easy to talk to! In addition, spending time with animals can help children to develop a strong sense of empathy. Of course, understanding others’ feelings is a vital skill to learn.... Increase self-esteem The love and attention bestowed on children by animals feel pretty special. Research has shown that when children care for animals they are more likely to have high self-esteem which in turn improves a range of outcomes throughout their lives. Learn responsibility Animals don’t care for themselves, and children are more capable than perhaps we give them credit for. Assign different children or groups of children a task each week and rotate throughout the class. Children can learn the responsibility of caring for an animal who relies on them to be fed, given water and cleaned on a regular basis. Responsibility is a valuable skill for life.

16.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and very happy Merry Christmas and New Years

15.01.2022 After reading the popular Gingerbread Man story book, we extended on this by baking and decorating our very own Gingerbread people. The little chefs stepped up to the plate and worked amazingly to create their very own edible masterpieces. After they had been cooked and cooled down the children decorated and then happily ate their cookies.

12.01.2022 Gymnastics - (An article on the benefits of gymnastics) The benefits of gymnastics for toddlers are truly amazing! Toddlers are extremely impressionable and energetic! It really is the best time to teach them healthy and social behaviors that can help shape the rest of their lives. We’ve all heard of the five senses sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. But did you know that there are actually seven senses!?!? Gill Connell, a child development expert and co-author of A Mov...ing Child is a Learning Child, explains that the last two senses vestibular (sense of balance) and proprioception (our intuitive sense of space and position) may feel automatic to adults, but are NOT automatic to kids. Like the other five senses, kids need to learn what these senses are trying to tell them through the trial-and-error process of everyday living, playing, and moving. Gill Connell | Moving Smart Blog Now let’s imagine a place where your little one can explore his or her ability to crawl, climb, jump, hop, roll, balance, flip, and swing in a safe, colorful, padded, and fun environment, all the while using his/her senses to develop coordination and confidence. Here in lies the magic of gymnastics.

11.01.2022 Yoga Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.

We have spent time reading about a frogs life cycle and even went out to catch some tadpoles to be able to watch them grow. All the children have been active participants in learning about frogs. They have also learnt and practiced many different skills when cutting and gluing the life cycle of a frog and catching tadpoles. The kids have been very eager to tell their parents about the life cycle of a frog at pick up time.

05.01.2022 Harmony Day 21/03/19. Today we learnt a little about Harmony Day. We started off with a little video that was easy for the children to understand and then read Mem Fox’s I’m Australian too. We continued with a couple of fun arts and crafts and spoke about our understanding of Harmony Day, and it’s meaning and value to each individual child. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.... Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Australians can choose to wear something orange during 17-23 March to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. There are some fascinating statistics about Australia’s diversity that can be good conversation-starters: nearly half (49 per cent) of Australians were born overseas or have at least one parent who was we identify with over 300 ancestries since 1945, more than 7.5 million people have migrated to Australia 85 per cent of Australians agree multiculturalism has been good for Australia apart from English, the most common languages spoken in Australia are Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek, Tagalog/Filipino, Hindi, Spanish and Punjabi more than 70 Indigenous languages are spoken in Australia. These facts are taken from ABS 2016 Census Data. Check out the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.
