25.01.2022 After a delayed start to the inter-school sports winter season, it was wonderful to see families and community on campus on Saturday. The sun was shining for the first round of home-games for the Emmaus netball and soccer teams. Congratulations to all our Soccer teams (U8s, U10s, U11s and Senior Primary) on winning their matches. 25.01.2022 Emmaus is seeking a Bus Driver to commence Term 4 2020. Emmaus provides an owned and operated bus service for students to travel to and from school each day. We have a fleet of six buses that service the hills, southern and western suburbs and we also provide a pick-up / drop off link for students who take the train from the south. For more information visit https://emmauscc.sa.edu.au/about/employment. Applications close Wednesday 23 September.

24.01.2022 This term, Junior School students have continued to engage in rich and diverse learning activities including visual arts and inquiry-based projects. Although we are missing the sub-school assemblies, our students have continued to be recognised and awarded their achievement certificates each week, by Helen Vonow, Head of Junior School. Inquiry-based learning is one of our teaching methodologies we use at Emmaus. It requires critical and creative thinking so students can dev...elop their abilities to ask questions, design investigations, interpret evidence, form explanations and arguments, and communicate findings. Through these highly-engaging learning experiences, students have a greater ability to develop deeper understanding and retain new information. Visual Art activities allow students new and creative ways of expressing new knowledge and understanding as well as their own sense of identity.

24.01.2022 Makerspace Audio Projects have now concluded with many speakers of all shapes and sizes made. Students from Years 8-12 had a great time re-purposing and building their personalised speakers or amplifiers. We have had laughs, made mistakes, learned a great deal about electronics, acoustics, hand tools and had a lot of fun along the way. These photos showcase the work in progress, end products and the proud students displaying their work. Stay tuned for further Makerspace activities in Term 3 and Term 4! Makerspace is an open and collaborative workshop for secondary students to understand and create projects that bridge the gap between existing technologies, understanding how they work, and furthering the use and application.

24.01.2022 This morning our Year 11s enjoyed a pancake breakfast prepared and served by our Year 12 student leaders. At this time of year the Year 11s would usually be on camp, (a choice of either the Lands Trip (Ernabella), Food Trail (Barossa), Arts Trip (Melbourne) or Monarto). Sadly, due to COVID-19 restrictions these camps have been cancelled. Our Year 12s served breakfast to recognise this. Although it cant replace camp, a little bit of comfort food is always appreciated!

24.01.2022 = The Emmaus Christian College Outreach's Christmas fundraising project ‘Candles for Christmas’ was a huge success! In collaboration with the Emmaus Makerspace, 14 students from Year 7 to 11, worked many afterschool hours to produce over 190 candles, ordered by the Emmaus families and friends. All sales proceeds will be donated to @compassionau important projects in Indonesia that provide fundamental needs of the many families with affected by the pandemic. It was wonderful to witness students from different year levels work together for a great cause! We thank all who have ordered the candles. Congratulations to Ms Amy Chesser, Mr David Chu and to all the students for their dedication and kindness. #christmasgiving #compassionau #candlesforchristmas

23.01.2022 On Friday our Middle School students relished the sunshine at Belair National Park for the annual Middle School Wellbeing Day. There were countless smiles and lots of laughter from students as they enjoyed a range of group outdoor activities, outside of school grounds. We are so grateful to God for the beautiful weather and for the opportunity to enjoy these special times with friends. Congratulations to the many teachers on such a successful event! #studentwellbeing #belairnationalpark #inspiringhearts #inspiringminds

22.01.2022 Today sub-school assemblies recommenced since the restrictions in Term 1. The Senior School students shared communion as they reflected on their need for forgiveness and thankfulness for Gods amazing love. Junior School students reflected on Gods incredible goodness and glory in creation with a devotion on P...salm 19. Class certificates were distributed. 21.01.2022 Rubbing it in? Board Director, Andrea Ferguson and fellow Port supporters Paul and Fletcher (Year 12) couldnt help celebrate their teams thrashing of the Adelaide Crows after this mornings board meeting. Principal, Andrew Linkes head hung in disappointment! If youre an avid Crows fan, youll empathise with Andrew - this showdown result will need more healing time than usual!

Pizza menus included toppings ranging from beetroot, walnut and chicken through to prawn and bacon and gluten free honeyed pear on a pumpkin sauce. Roast vine tomatoes, rich homemade tomato sauce, chorizo, pesto and lamb were also delicious elements used to create delicious pizzas on fresh crusty bases. Original menus, distinctive names (Ie, Flour and Stone) and on-trend styling made for a very successful lunchtime event for a lucky few. Congratulations Year 11s!

14.01.2022 Last week, Mr Malcolms Year 7 students undertook a water treatment practical that demonstrated various mixture separation techniques such as filtration, flocculation and decanting. Although students enjoyed seeing the final result of crystal clear water, the best part of this practical was the flocculation - Students broke down the charges that keep the mud particles in a colloidal-dispersion state which then formed clumps or floc that could be filtered from the water.

09.01.2022 National Science Week commenced early at Emmaus with the Big Egg Drop Challenge. Students from Years 5 to 12 split into groups to construct an egg case that would protect their egg from a 5 metre drop. Its much trickier than it sounds because the materials were limited to a meagre amount of cotton wool, straws, pipe cleaners, paper, one balloon and one plastic bag. There were some weird and wonderful creations and we were very impressed with the many successes! With the help of a scissor lift, there was much eggshilaration and anticipation as we watched the eggs drop. Congratulations to the winning students! A big thanks to Mrs Storey and Mrs Ducker for their organisation of this fun activity (Bring on the egg puns!) #science #nationalscienceweek
