INVERELL & GWYDIR SHIRES ALSO INCLUDED IN QUEENSLAND BORDER BUBBLE I have just had formal confirmation that the Inverell and Gwydir Shires will be... included, in their entirety, within the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 border bubble, from 1am Thursday, 1 October. This is the breakthrough our communities have been calling for since the ridiculous, postcode based, border zone was implemented in early August. After six weeks of pain, frustration and heartache finally the Queensland Government has made a rational decision and created a travel zone based on local government areas, instead of postcodes. This decision late today means Inverell and Gwydir Shires will join Moree Plains, Glen Innes and Tenterfield LGAs in the bubble, which is brilliant news. 07.01.2022 This insignificant looking post is one of many which have been placed along the road where I live. We'd had many kangaroos and other wildlife killed after bein...g hit by cars. These posts are activated by car headlights shining on them and emit a loud buzzing sound thereby deterring wildlife from crossing the road. Several of us in the neighbourhood contacted Sunshine Coast Council re the problem and they listened and acted. Very impressed so far with no dead wildlife since they went in 2 months ago. 04.01.2022 EMMAVILLE ROAD - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE Please be advised that Emmaville Road will be closed to through traffic this Sunday, 1 November 2020 to allow for emerge...ncy recovery works to be carried out by contractors. The section from the Reedy Creek through to the Fladbury Bridge will be fully closed from 10:00am until 12:00 midday. In addition, a single lane closure under traffic light control will be in place between 7:00am and 10:00am AND between 12:00 midday and 3:00pm. This closure will commence approximately 20km from the Gwydir Highway intersection and will extend for approximately 500m. Council regrets any inconvenience that these works may cause and thanks motorists, business owners and residents for their understanding and co-operation. 02.01.2022 Just letting people know the guesthouse is currently unavailable due to renovations. When finished we will have two self contained units, one of which has been ...designed to be suitable for people with a disability. Camping is still available and our new amenities are up and running with hot showers, toilets and a small camp kitchen (toaster, kettle, fridge, electric frypan and sink). For larger groups we also have a coldroom available for $15 per day. Also please note that we have now cancelled our landline after 5 years of absolute hell with it, so if wanting to book please call Mal on 0457 357 909 or Anne on 0498 090 370.
