18.01.2022 Post knee injury or lower limb surgery your focus should be set on reactivating your QUAD! And doing it EARLY! Simply put... You’re early goal of regaining knee extension, will be achieved best by, you actively using your quad to get it there. ... How? Squat and lunge patterns, gait retraining, bands and external load. But if not? BFR! Here we star @jacquiiii_green who luckily avoided ligamentous injury but picked up a tibial plateau fracture on the AFL field restricting her to partial weight bearing only for a few long weeks. Now weight bearing as tolerated, the regain of her muscle strength needs to begin before any thought of return to function. The BFR Cuffs are preventing venous blood flow return to the heart from her working quad, while maintaining arterial inflow. This essentially creates a lactic environment, where the muscles usual process is being interrupted. To her delight, it has to work harder which causes adaptations and increased strength. Get off the physio bed and get working. . . . . . If your orthopedic surgery has been delayed there’s plenty you can and should do in the now increased prehab period. ... If working and training from home is giving you grief, you need advice, or you need your rehab plan progressed.. online physio will give you the usual active plan minus the manual therapy. You’ve all got a phone or laptop and internet connection: that’s all you need. Your physio still wants to help you if you need it! See more

01.01.2022 We’re all culprits... Of doing; Too Much Too Fast ... Too Heavy Too Soon Too Often & it’s hindering our recovery as well as increasing our risk of injury. One of the most common cause of injury is an acute spike in workload that the body cannot adapt quick enough too. Athletes (in a study by Ristolainen et al 2013) who had less than 2 rest days per week were placing themselves at a 5.2 fold risk of injury. So time to cease the comparison with others’ training schedules and remember balance of work and recovery is vital.
