24.01.2022 Winding down the weirdest of years in Warrandyte ... Have a safe and hopefully a merry little Christmas. I'm looking forward to my first Melbourne one. Xx

23.01.2022 Here's to not spending another four years scowling at the newspaper every morning when we wake. Go Biden, go decency and go democracy! (Blithe Spirit 2014 Canberra Repertory.)

23.01.2022 Starting a new venture... a collaboration between two widely respected theatre companies in Metropolitan and regional Victoria: Warrandyte Theatre Company and Ballarat National Theatre. Now more than ever, there are stories to tell, and we want to tell them! This play will be scripted entirely with the words of the people. Join us on this page to find out more.

23.01.2022 Another fabulous talent I am lucky to share the stage and the rehearsal room with - his own words below!

21.01.2022 Thank you to Chicago playwright Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend for this lovely recommendation of A Hit and Miss Christmas. 2021 will be a year to put bums on seats, and no one knows that better than the Hit and Miss Theatre Company. A Christmas Carol is the only sensible choice for festive fun... or is it? Find out in the real world, msg me for a perusal script of this 3M/4F festive full length play. Roles for actors 20-80, laughter, literature and even the audience gets involved in the action!

20.01.2022 This charming local centre for the arts is a short (but steep!) walk from my house. One of the organisations it hosts is the Warrandyte Theatre Company. Due to covid, I haven't yet had the chance to see a play, or get involved in any way. But often on my lockdown walk I look hopefully at it and look forward to that day. I know they have many great things in the pipeline. Fingers permanently crossed! #communitytheatre

20.01.2022 I took great pleasure at locking myself in my wardrobe and voicing Mrs St Clair for the Sherlock Holmes Podcast by Someone New Theatre Company. Thanks to Gracie Rogers and Joanne Lusty for the direction, and of course to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for the masterful story telling. Please enjoy this rather fabulous twisting tale! With more than a thousand listens to The Holmes Podcast so far, you'll be in good company. Check it out on Spotify and other platforms: SNTC's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

16.01.2022 Throw back Thursday and themed promo... One of my rare experiences of holding a cigarette in Canberra Repertory's 2014 Blithe Spirit in which I played Ruth. (Not sure how convincing my smoking was!) Also puts me in mind of upcoming international short play festival Covid and Cigarettes at Aurora Theatre Hong Kong. 7th November, link in their profile. Amazing line up of new plays by writers, with directors and actors from all over the world. My new play, Voices, premieres there, directed by Ryan King. Join us!

15.01.2022 First post ever about a tech purchase: I bought this fabulous microphone. It was a sign to myself that I'm taking my new craft seriously. I've spent quite a bit of time this homebound year learning about the art and craft of voice over. I've always used my voice as an actor, teacher, marriage celebrant and trivia host, and was trained as a singer, but I'm learning many new things. I've been lucky to have received some online training from Cecelia Ramsdale @cecramsdale and tech and other advice from Andy Wells @andy.wells.mvo. Anyone keen on this avenue, I highly recommend you check them out at Voices of Tomorrow. I'll be in my wardrobe practising (and pretending the tech aspects don't scare me! )

15.01.2022 Thanks to my NYC playwriting buddy Donald Loftus for sharing this article from the NY Times. How lovely to see Australian theatres attracting international attention! https://www.nytimes.com//australia-theater-reopens-coronav

13.01.2022 A 2020 Vision, a play for all of us, by all of us, launched on Friday night. Huge thanks goes to Liana Skewes for her tech wizardry and hosting sparkle. Along with directors Susan Rundle and Adrian Rice I was delighted to meet people from Melbourne and Ballarat and answer questions about the collaborative community project. Question and response began on Saturday morning, and the huge response shows we all have so much to share, and a desire to share it. This truly is community theatre.

12.01.2022 Calling Victorians: be part of a creative venture to make your stories part of a brand new play. This collaboration between between the highly regarded Warrandyte Theatre Company and Ballarat National Theatre will bring a creative response, and some dignity, meaning and even laughter to the madness that has been 2020. Join us this Friday at 6.30pm on Facebook Live for an info session all about it. https://m.facebook.com/events/2456527531315608

11.01.2022 Working with the voices of Victorians during the 112 day Lockdown 2.0 was an unexpected joy; a rewarding project in a very bleak time. The two directors and nine actors gave voice to hundreds of participants. If you missed A 2020 Vision, here's a chance to catch it again. It's been a called a time capsule by many, and I hope you'll all find something in here to relate to. Raw human stories of this extraordinary time we've all lived, laughter and tears.

11.01.2022 Happy new year everyone! I'm going to start the year by looking forward to this. Postponed in 2020, hopefully we'll see the world premiere at Newcastle Theatre Company as planned later this year! Excited to see what the talented Pearl Nunn does with this 3M/4F festive comedy. Here's to some live theatre for all of us to enjoy well before November too! Thanks @newcastletheatreco for your ongoing faith in my work. Graphic design by Dez Robertson.

10.01.2022 I do love the word of the day that lands in my inbox every day. Here is the unsurprising but very accurate word of the year. I think I would have chosen 'clusterf*#k' personally! Anyone else want to nominate one?

10.01.2022 From the director of A Name for Herself, one day only next Saturday 1:30/6:30pm...

09.01.2022 My enormously talented colleague Stephen plays multiple roles and brings something special to each one. A joy to share the stage with.

09.01.2022 You've probably seen this portrait of Jane Austen many times. I've been thinking about her quite a lot today. About seven years ago I was struck with a flash of inspiration about two of her best loved characters, Mr and Mrs Bennet of Pride and Prejudice. I wanted to know how and why they ever got together. The story of their courtship was the subject of my second play, Mr Bennet's Bride. A lot of people came to see that play in its first production at Newcastle Theatre C...ompany, and that's because of Jane. It's had more productions since, in Australia and the UK, and these delightful characters continue to bring a crowd. Because of Jane. I tried to emulate her in style and substance, and if I succeeded at all it's because she drew such life like,, brilliant characters for me to build upon. You don't get much better source material. The play has attracted some attention in the USA recently, and I was thinking today once again, it's because of Jane. It's premature to say any more at this point, but I have reflected a lot on how I am standing on the shoulders of a literary giant. And the sad and strange thing about that is that I can never say' thank you' to some one who was born exactly 200 years before me. So this tiny post is a little tribute to Jane Austen, a literary giant and an inspiration to people the world over. 08.01.2022 KrisP Production of Hong Kong will present Water Child as a zoom play with an international cast soon to be announced. The award wining drama gained this commendation from the Newcastle Herald's Ken Long worth in its premiere production in 2012: 'Emma Wood’s examination of the impact fertility problems have on wives and husbands and the reactions of people around them is one that will move the hearts and minds of those who see itthis is a rewarding look at a generally unspoken subject.' Grab a glass of wine and join us from home! Tix on link below.

04.01.2022 Reposting an image from Someone New Theatre Company (Geelong) who are holding open auditions for a podcast of Sherlock Holmes in 12 episodes... I've got that familiar little surge of excitement when theatrical possibilities present. Looking at the production team that includes some hugely skilled folks I've been lucky to get to know of late, I am sure this will be an exciting and professional podcast. I'm auditioning. Who's joining me?! (All the details are in the bio or FB page of Someone New)

03.01.2022 Last night tonight! hope you can catch it before season ends tomorrow.

03.01.2022 Here's a bit of inspiration from Ballarat National Theatre, who have not only developed a podcast of a dramatised Pride and Prejudice with a national cast and international following, but are now fundraising with these genuinely charming and creative items. Might interest some other theatre folk, so sharing for your interest! Or make a purchase to support a great community theatre company. #lizzyinmyears

02.01.2022 I am so proud to join the Dramatists Guild of America. I think when this card arrived in my mailbox I was as delighted as I have ever been with a little piece of plastic! 'Dramatists stand together as a community for their mutual benefit and survival, and for the survival of theatre as an art form in the 21st century. '

02.01.2022 When you can't have friends for lunch! Have our fictional friends ever been more important?! A solace for all ages. My personal sanity saviours at the moment are Leslie Knope, Ron Swanson and the whole fabulous cast of Parks and Recreation. You can see from the photo who my kids are enjoying. What about you?

01.01.2022 I'm really excited about this conversation between professional LA actor Se Marie and professional Hong Kong based producer Kris Pakhomova.
