19.01.2022 A little bit of symmetry magic from Adam and Sams wedding. Featuring the lake and lake house at Chapel Hill Retreat That water looked stunning!

19.01.2022 The other day, I put a call out on FB for BIPOC owned wedding businesses. The wedding industry is a pretty white-washed place and doesn’t show a lot of diversity (I was pretty amazed a few weeks ago when I saw an indigenous bride featured in a wedding blog). Anyway, I got some amazing suggestions for BIPOC women in business from that post; but one comment really stood out to me (for unfortunate reasons). This person asked why the hell should a business owners race even matt...er? Imagine the uproar if someone specifically wanted to support white business owners? I think this can be a common train of thought for a lot of white people in general. Isn’t this reverse racism? Why should someone else be lifted up before me? It’s so unfair! Right? I’d like to share one of the comments in reply written so much more eloquently and intelligently than I ever could by Sugandha Bhargava Chapman of @myorganicchild This is what she said : Because white is the default. Tell me when you think about "ideal customer" - you don't even think of any other person other than white do you? (....) BIPOC business owners DON'T get as many opportunities or representation in the industries they work in and representation matters. Why wouldn't you want to uplift and raise their voices and businesses in a world that systematically looks to erase them at worst, or not even acknowledge them at best, It's laughable that you think a value to be more diverse and inclusive is discrimination. P.S Reverse racism is not a thing. Engrained racism is within all of us, but instead of denying it, it’s important to recognise it, work to re-educate ourselves and retrain our subconscious reflexes when it comes to race. #equitynotequality

18.01.2022 One of my favourite places in Sydney is the Botanical Gardens. It holds a special place in my history of living in Sydney and being a photographer. When I was given my first camera 8 years ago, I walked around Sydney taking photos and practicing. The botanical gardens was the place I visited first. Its wide variety of spaces and people. The backdrop of the city against sprawling green lawns and ponds bordered by the shimmering blue harbour. I’ve kept those first images and it’s so great to see the growth in my photography journey. Swipe to see what those first pictures looked like! @ The Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney

16.01.2022 Today’s shoutout goes out to @jennifergobridal of @theweddingboutique Jenni creates beautiful, classic gowns with subtle beading and lace panelling. Modern princess vibes maybe? Idk but these dresses are beautiful! Not only that, but she’s a stellar, kind and super lovely human being too. Make sure to check out her page and show her some insta love xx

16.01.2022 Currently updating the website and awwwwing at this cheeky little monkey who just DIDN'T want to smash that cake!!! Can't deal with the cuteness that Little Miss A was during (what was meant to be) her 1st birthday cake smash

16.01.2022 Moody black and white give me all the feels I finished reading a novel this week about a woman who was born blind but underwent an operation to cure her blindness. Even though it was fiction it was interesting to read this characters inner monologue and her feelings towards sight. She had to learn to see - like learning a new language. Identifying shapes and colours were hard and she really struggled. At one point she decided to give up and just close her eyes and becom...e blind again. One part that really stood out to me was how this character struggled to tell the difference between colourful labels on products in the grocery store. It was too distracting and her brain couldn’t process the overload of information. I think this is the reason why I love black and white images so much. With colour images, sometimes we can focus too much on the greens, the skin tones, the golden hour look. Colours can be beautiful, but they can also direct our attention away from what’s really happening. When there’s no colour; the emotion or feeling in the image can speak to us more clearly and really make us feel what’s happening. Even when there doesn’t SEEM to have anything happening - we can usually feel something. Does that even make sense??!? #ranting Who else loves a good black and white edit?

15.01.2022 Sharing a black and white image of myself to raise awareness and stand in solidarity of the injustices against womxn in Turkey - one of the top countries for femicides (the intentional killing of women because they are women) in the world. Young, old, covered, uncovered, trans, straight, gay - these acts are being perpetrated against ALL womxn and they’re happening right here in Australia too. Pinar Gültekin was one of those womxn who sparked protests and this challenge. I s...tand for her and every other one of our sisters who has died at the hands of a violent partner. #challengeaccepted #womxnforwomxn #femicideinturkey #pinargultekin

15.01.2022 Happy 1 year anniversary (for yesterday!) to these two beautiful people I’m so honoured to have been there for you both xx @ Cronulla Beach, New South Wales, Australia

15.01.2022 These past couple of weeks I’ve been thinking about what I really want my couples to experience on their wedding day. I will always strive to give you beautiful images to remember your day by. But I don’t want to be only about the pretty pictures. You’re going to come away from your day and say Wow, that was an amazing roller coaster of emotions.... And my job, as your photographer, is to capture that entire roller coaster ride. Authentically and true to who you are - so you can look back on your day and still feel the same butterflies, hear the same jokes your best friend whispered in your ear, the same touch your love gave when they held you for the first time after promising their forever to you. I want you to connect with your wedding images long after the day has passed, be transported back to that exact moment in time and FEEL what you felt in that exact moment in time. It’s about the feelings, the true-to-you moments, the love you felt for each other and the love you feel for the people you surround yourself with on the most extra day of your life So just know, that when I show up at your wedding, I will be there for you and YOUR moments to preserve those feelings for the rest of your life with my camera - pretty pictures is just a bonus Venue : @gunnersbarracks Dress Designer: @corston_couture Jewellery: @lotus.jewels Stationary : @invitesbyveasnachea Cutlery/napkins: @clothandconfettievents Cake: @roseberrycakecreations Florals: @aromaamourflowers HMUA: @rebeccashardlow.hmua Couple : Lydia - @lydianoellaaa Dave - @mister_robson

14.01.2022 Just like a true 21st century love story, Sam and Adam met on Tinder after swiping right for each other in 2017. Obviously they liked what they saw because three years later, here they are! It was a beautiful, emotional day full of laughs and happy tears. Can’t wait to share more of their day!!

12.01.2022 Question : Are under-the-veil shots kind of dated now or are they still okay to do? I’m asking for a friend who’s just discovered that she actually kind of likes shooting under a veil and needs to maintain the illusion of being hip, cool and on top of the trends

11.01.2022 I don't know what to say so I'll just drop a couple of snaps from last weekend with Paria and Ed All in black and white of course (because those classic feels just can't be beat) MUA : Rebecca Shardlow - Makeup artist & Hair stylist... Florist : FOLA Dress : Corston Couture See more

10.01.2022 A couple of you may have noticed that my insta handle doesn’t say Spark+Kindle Photography any more (or maybe you haven’t!!) When I first started wedding photography my vision was to photograph adventure elopements. Spark+Kindle seemed earthy and adventurous - and that’s the kind of clientele I wanted to attract. But as I’ve grown in my photography style and worked more, I’ve refined my style and learned more about what I love shooting. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to p...hotograph epic mountain top elopements (I would absolutely LOVE that!), it just means I’m serving a different clientele. My line is for down to earth couples who don’t mind the fancy things in life. I love couples who are grounded, have ethical values, seek out social change, enjoy some of the nerdy things in life (Star Wars 4 lyf) but who also like the shiny things, the fancy additions - that bit of EXTRA. Kind of like me So here we go! Welcome to Emma Wright Weddings. Updated website coming soon.

07.01.2022 Yesterday, I introduced myself to you. But my work wouldn’t be what it is without the beautiful talents of the people I work with. This space is filled with pictures of other people’s work too and I want to lift them up and introduce you all the THEM too. So first, I want to show some love to the very talented @leena_ratanjirani who designs the most beautiful wedding stationary. These hand torn vow books were stunning just like all of her other work.

02.01.2022 Finally sharing this beautiful shoot with you all! So excited With the help from Sydney wedding planner Poonam Gururajan of @themaharanidiaries, we were able to curate this stunning intimate Indian Hindu wedding as a was a way to show how, during these times of covid-19, the usually extravagant affairs can go ahead within our new normal. The shoot was beautifully curated to highlight the importance of colour and the strong sense of emotion it evokes in Indian weddings. This... is a story of the modern-day bride and her dashing groom celebrating and cherishing the raw and meaningful moments between each other.
