24.01.2022 What we think and feel dances between positive and negative, empowering and disempowering, confidence and shyness. Your mind can only hold one thought at time, taking time to pause and listen allows us to hear and choose which one we will believe and follow in each moment
23.01.2022 Raising your legs higher then your heart means gravity will increase blood circulation back to your heart. Combined with controlled breathing leads to slowing down within your body. Relaxes your lower abdominal area allowing for better digestion, lowers anxiety, stress insomnia
22.01.2022 "Ask yourself, do you need to be spending your entire weeks pay on the latest superfood, yoga outfit or overpriced mala beads? Does doing crazy postures or having the iconic things make you happier or healthier? Of course there is a place for good food, beautiful books and well-crafted adornments, retail therapy can brings us a bit of joy. But we believe its more important to acknowledge how perfectly divine the simple things in life can be. And it doesnt have to cost you the earth or your sanity to have it" Senior yoga teacher Alison (from Clear Skies Yoga) and Tanya (from Clayfield Yoga Studio Brisbane) share their thoughts on the yogic path and their upcoming workshop series, Ground to Grow, over on the Blessed Brisbane blog. https://blessedbrisbane.com.au/yoga-true-innate-self/

18.01.2022 "The only reason that we dont open our hearts and minds to other people is that they trigger confusion in us that we dont feel brave enough or sane enough to deal with. To the degree that we are able to look clearly and compassionately at ourselves, do we feel confident and fearless about looking into someone elses eyes. . This experience of opening to the world begins to benefit ourselves and others simultaneously. The more we relate with others, the more quickly we disco...ver where we are blocked, where we are unkind, afraid, shut down. Seeing this is helpful, but it is also painful. Often the only way we know how to react is to use it as ammunition against ourselves. We arent kind. We arent honest. We arent brave, and we might as well give up right now. . Thats the beginning of growing up. As long as we dont want to be honest and kind with ourselves, then we are always going to be infants. When we begin to try to accept ourselves, the ancient burden of self-importance lightens up considerably. Finally theres room for genuine inquisitiveness, and we find we have an appetite for whats out there. . http://pemachodronfoundation.org/ . Art Credit: Moonassi

08.01.2022 Benefits of Speaking your Truth by Neale Donald Walsch Living our truth is the hardest adventure you will ever experience. It can be full of rejection and pain, but it can also be one of the most rewarding decisions you will ever make. - Being honest brings relief and requires less energy.... - You will get authentic relationships with honesty. - You will never regret speaking from your heart, but you will always regret saying yes just to please someone. - Being emotionally honest establishes trust. - Being honest demands respect. When you value and respect your own thoughts and feelings, others will too. - You will become stronger. There is strength in being honest with yourself. - Being you means that you believe that your needs and wants are important, which means you know how to ask for what you need and not be manipulated - Emotional honesty is a gift to others and to yourself. When you tell your truth, you take the guesswork out of your words. - Honesty encourages healthier connections, it is a gateway to improvement in every relationship, especially the one you have with yourself - Being honest will make you stop wasting time on the wrong people. - Honesty becomes addictive, it will also help inspire the people in your life to do the same. - Honesty reveals a lot about how comfortable you are in your own skin. Always live your truth. Youll be a better person for it. Live authentically. Live your truth. And if you love me for anything, love me because I live mine. ~ Neale Donald Walsch
08.01.2022 You've heard your yoga teacher say it, "this pose balances your base chakra" or "feel your heart chakra blossoming open". I remember when I first signed up for ...yoga, I was so determined not to be drawn into 'all that hippy crap'. Even when I signed up for teacher training, the first thing I checked was the length of the facilitator's underarm hair (it was non-existent, just so you know). But little by little, tiny gem of wisdom after tiny gem, I found myself becoming more and more fascinated by the philosophy of yoga, and how, through these practices, we come to a greater sense of wellbeing and ease. read on here: https://www.clearskiesyoga.com.au//what-the-bloody-hell-is

05.01.2022 A specially designed session interweaving the cooling and grounding effects of a passive Yin Yoga practice. This cultivates spaciousness and encourages a gentle but deep release. This practice also offers to rejuvenate you with Qi Gong moves. Finishing with a guided Yoga Nidra, an instructed meditation at the end of class with you propped up so your body relaxes soaks it all in. This 2-hour session goes fast, but the extra time than a normal yoga class allows you to rest more deeply at the end. A perfect late afternoon Sunday session.

04.01.2022 Coming from a background of studying Acupuncture the chakra system caught my attention. The chakra system originated in ancient India between 1500 & 500BC, the ...first references found in the foundational texts, The Vedas. So just like Acupuncture, theyve been around a while. In Yoga Ive only studied the 7 primary chakras along the spine, but there are thousands of smaller ones all around the body which is where an Acupuncturist places their needles to increase energy, unblock it, decrease any excess, basically fine-tuning energy in these point for the health and vitality of your whole body. Yoga doesnt just locate these 7 main chakras but study in-depth the mental and emotional connections. In a nutshell, the idea is, when you pay attention to what each chakras relate to, and work to bring yourself into balance, youll find a sense of wholeness and completeness that leaves you feeling pretty darn well put together. Understanding the chakras helps us to understand the full spectrum of our basic needs. To be a fulfilled human being we need a whole lot more than food, water and air for survival, lets start with the basics.

03.01.2022 At first the saying 'the more I learn, the more I realise how little I know' used to frustrate me. Now I just have one of those yep moments and agree that there are many layers to understanding, and when you understand one layer you discover there are many more waiting to be explored. With Yoga, there is the physical layer most of us grasp at first. The yoga postures (asana) was my initial drawcard as it is to many of my students. In my years of training teachers have pas...sed on information that we are multilayered beings, but when you are new to this way of thinking, add in stereotypes, these 'unseen' layers aren't so easily accepted or understood. We all know Yoga works to harmonise our body mind and spirit/emotions. When you stretch a muscle you feel the release of physical tension; which ripples out to mental relaxation; which then ripples out to feeling emotionally more happier. The Yogi's define our bodies as having 5 layers or sheaths (similar to layers of an onion) called Koshas. From the densest physical layer of skin and bones; to the most subtle layer of energy or bliss that cannot be seen or touched, only felt. When I practice with this kind of awareness, my goal shifts more towards the way my practice makes me feel, rather than how strong or flexible my body is. Yoga often referred to as the Science of Life, is originally a meditation practice. The asanas were just brought in to keep the body fit and healthy whilst one embarks on the journey of Self-Realisation. A journey called Life where every day I am reminded I am forever a babe learning, discovering, trialing, making errors, and having a lot more fun sitting comfortably in the knowledge I know not much at all.
02.01.2022 Because men are seen as the ones who are strong, tough, blokey, 'just get on with it', 'she'll be right' kind of attitude. They seem cold and unemotional like they don't care. Men open up and talk so woman can hear you, as see you need support at times too. https://www.facebook.com//vb.1000010939/1056451591067962/
