03.01.2022 A message from the Chair, Barbara Ryan: We're very sorry to announce that EMPA founding chair, Peter Rekers, has stepped down from the Board of Directors of EMPA. Peter has been a life force of EMPA since 2006, when he and I, with Alastair Wilson from EMA, created the organisation as a forum for emergency communicators and researchers to share knowledge and lessons. Peter's imagination and energy, and his knack for meeting and drawing in new members of the EMPA family from a...ll around the world is one of the reasons EMPA is such a well-respected and effective organisation. We wish Peter all the best in this sabbatical - as an EMPA Fellow, Peter will be welcomed to be part of EMPA activities and we hope to see him at future events. For now, he is taking a much-needed change of pace as manager of CrisisReady social media influencers Maggie and George, and of course, CrisisReady itself. We wish Peter all the best.

We are committed to emergency communication learning & while we'd rather meet in person, we're glad we could hold the conference online this year. See you properly in 2021, or of course in #Wellington for #EMPANZ in October. The support of our sponsors is key to ensuring we can keep the registration price to a minimum - shout out to Australian Department of Home Affairs, Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC and our awards sponsor AIDR.
