10.01.2022 You've probably heard about social distancing, but how exactly is it defined and who should be doing it? While practising social distancing, people can travel t...o work (including public transport). For non-essential activities outside the workplace or attendance at schools, universities and childcare - social distancing includes: - Avoiding crowds and mass gatherings. - Avoiding small gatherings in enclosed spaces. - Attempting to keep a distance of 1.5 metres between themselves and other people where possible. - Avoiding shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people. - Avoiding visiting vulnerable people. If you have travelled to another country in the past 14 days you should self-monitor for symptoms, practice social distancing where possible and immediately isolate yourself if you become unwell. Social distancing is NOT enough for people who have travelled to a higher risk country. Read more advice from NSW Health: https://bit.ly/2PXYCP7

09.01.2022 Firstly, many of us are aware that we finished last week with a scare for one of our families where father and son were being tested for possible COVID-19. With 50% of our families already working from home, teachers h...ave developed a ‘Student Learning Pack’ to guide students and families in continuing their children’s education. Learning activities will be provided in a variety of ways to cater for different learning styles and varying access to technology. - Google Classroom - activities set online for grades 3-6 - Work sheets provided - Readers provided - Cards and Dice provided with instructions for games to support number development - Online programs such as Mathletics and Reading Eggs - Suggested apps - TV/ internet i.e. Behind the News .......As well as a variety of learning tools (pencils etc) and fun items (handball, cards etc). 03.01.2022 Empire Vale Public School is open as normal today. The NSW Department of Education is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Events with more than 500 people will be cancelled until further notice. NEW: Friday’s Cross Country and Thursday’s SXCSS General Knowledge Day have been cancelled. Planning for all other future events outside the school will be put on hold until further notice in the hopes of minimising any impact of the virus on students, staff and our community.... What you can do to help..... - Don’t panic! Or panic our students..... much of the advice given are normal hygiene precautions. BUT.... if all healthy people are vigilant in slowing down the spread of the virus it will help protect the more vulnerable in our community. - Inform the school immediately if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19. - Wash your hands, cover your cough and stay home if you’re sick. Get the latest COVID-19 advice. - Teach/remind your children good hand-washing techniques. - Practise ‘social distancing’. - Students exhibiting symptoms of being unwell should remain at home. Parents are to make their own decision regarding their children’s attendance at school if they are not unwell but please inform the school if the decision is to keep them home. - As an additional precaution the communal drinking fountains will be covered and not in use - please ensure students have their own refillable water bottle. Thank you for your understanding and support.
