21.01.2022 4 years ago I walked into a high school dance class having just found a new passion and a new way of helping teens. I think I’d like to try this fitness thing you’re doing Hannah said. And so were born my OG’s ... I could not be more grateful for your energy, your drive, your willingness to taste test my shitty energy balls and resignation to countless runs around the oval as I cheered until my voice hurt. It really has made my heart sing to watch you get faster, stronger, fitter and most importantly more confident over the years. Hearing you say our sessions have got you through some tough times nearly made me cry and I can genuinely say that when I’ve been almost too exhausted to drag my ass back into the car for one last session, I ALWAYS leave our Fridays feeling uplifted and energised. 19.01.2022 How do you have SO much energy!? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this. But it wasn’t always like this. 16.01.2022 Already this week I'm hearing the chat about having to 'burn off' all those Easter eggs we ate over the weekend. When we transactionalise movement - i.e. having to burn a specific number of calories or burn off something we ate, or earn that glass of wine on the weekend, we are completely missing the point of moving our bodies!! Movement is a gift, not a punishment. If you approach exercise as simply something you do to balance the ledger or to punish yourself for being 'bad'... you're likely to have a pretty shitty relationship with exercise and it's highly likely you won't stick with it for very long because you won't enjoy it. Movement should be a celebration of what your body can do! So this week, however you're moving your body, try approaching it from a place of gifting yourself this time, of gratitude for all your body can do and all it provides for you. 16.01.2022 They say that your period is the 5th vital sign. Meaning that your period it an excellent indicator of your overall health. When your period goes weird, it’s an indicator that something isn’t right. I strongly believe that the more young women we can get tracking their period the more empowered they can be. I’m sure we are all well aware of the physical and emotional changes that happen around the time of menstruation but did you know at different times of the month: ... You can be physically stronger? Athletes usually hit their PB’s in this phase and more word record are broken by women in this phase of their cycle You are more likely to be more sociable and your personality is more magnetic? This is a great time to go on a date or do an important presentaiton You are more reflective and introspective? This phase is an awesome time to evaluate projects or wrap up tasks. You naturally have less energy and need to rest more? You may have better orgasms? Plus, if something ISN’T right, you already have the data to back up your concerns and take them to your GP or natural therapist. Some of the things you should look out for are: Are there changes in flow, colour or consistency? Is it shorter or longer than normal? Are you spotting in between cycles? Are you experiencing any abnormal pain? It’s important to know and understand what is normal for YOU however, severe pain during menstruation is not a normal part of being a woman and could be an indicator of something else at play. If you notice any changes or irregularities please see your healthcare provider. And knowledge is power!! 14.01.2022 Check out this power combo from these two superstars!! We were all feeling super flat today. I don’t know about you but everyone I chat to is feeling really depleted right now. In all my sessions I use the traffic light system I learned from @nardianorman to gauge energy levels and readiness to train ... Green = good to go Amber = ok, but not firing on all cylinders Red = not feeling it today Particularly for my teens I find it’s a really helpful way to quickly gauge where they’re at without needing an explanation as to why. Particularly today, all our chicks gave me red, amber and even a ‘hard black’ as their traffic light. So we took it a little easier. We still moved, we still had fun and we still knocked out some awesome combos BUT after our session, we checked in again and everyone felt their mood and energy had lifted! We went from ‘hard black’ to amber/green and red to green. PROOF that sometimes in order to feel better, all you need to do is show up. You don’t always have to push yourself to your limits, but by simply showing up for yourself, you can increase your energy, your mood and most importantly your confidence. I get it, organising small people (or even big people) can be a real challenge. 03.01.2022 Is this how you’re feeling right now? It’s the end of another week, we made it!! If you check in with your energy levels right now how are you feeling?... Are you completely exhausted and dragging yourself home to collapse on the couch? Are you relieved the week is over but dreading the weekend too, knowing it’s going to be just as busy? I used to be a combination of 1-3 every single weekend. Don’t get me wrong, our schedule is still full-on and my workload is still as stacked as it has been BUT, I get more done and have more energy leftover for the things I love than ever before. Why?
