16.01.2022 Our goal for The Shine Shed North West is fairly simple. We want it to be a place for anyone, of any age, and any level of physical or intellectual ability, to... be able to come and play in a safe space. We want it to be a place where there is no judgement. Where a 20 something can jump on a trampoline, squealing with joy because it’s not something they get to do. Where an adult can take a giant leap (for them) into an airbag. Where someone in a wheelchair can play inside a cubby house alongside their friend or sibling. Where someone with sensory needs can chill out in a quiet space away from the bustle. Where a child with limited movement capabilities can enjoy the feeling of a zip line or swing. Where nobody bats an eyelid if your child does something that is normal for them but unusual for others. Where the number of people at any one time means that our visitors won’t be overwhelmed by a crowd. Where Mum and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, sibling and carer, can sit and relax and enjoy a coffee, safe in the knowledge that their child is in a safe, fenced play area. Where Mum and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, sibling and carer, can make new friends and build relationships with others who understand them. Where we all can belong, celebrate our commonalities and learn from our differences. So yes, please bring your babies and toddlers. Please bring your 20 or 30 somethings. Please bring your wheelchairs and your able bodies. Please bring those you love who shine with Downs Syndrome or Autism or genetic conditions or whatever it is that makes them special. Please bring those who are gifted and talented. And please bring everyone in between. Come and enjoy North West Sydney’s first custom designed All Abilities Play Centre, and let those you love shine!

01.01.2022 An update from our CEO Narelle: Hi Everyone, Most of you would be aware of the current Corona virus situation in Australia at present.... Yesterday we were contacted by two of our families to advise that they have a family member that has been tested for the virus. They have yet to receive the results and this could take up to three days. As the health and wellbeing of our clients and staff is our utmost priority, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all supports for a minimum of three days. We will review this situation on Thursday 19th March 2020 or as soon as we have further information. Your coordinator will be working offsite during this time and are available during office hours on their mobiles. If you have an emergency outside office hours, the on call number will operate as per normal. We understand that that this will impact families and staff, and please be assured that we will do everything we can to minimise this impact and resume services as soon as possible. This is a precautionary measure, aimed to reduce the risks of spreading the virus, and ensure we are doing everything we can to protect your health and that of our staff. We will keep you updated over the next few days as to what the next steps will be. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
