24.01.2022 BENCH PRESS An exercise that isn’t consistently part of my training but I would like to grow in this area A couple of tips to consider and to keep in mind when bench pressing ... 1 Grip the bar hands just wider than shoulder width, this allows for maximum force generation from the bottom up 2 Bring the bar slowly down to chest as you breath in (breathing technique is very important) 3 Breath out as you push the bar up. Find a focus point that will help you control the bar and ensure it travels the same path every time 4 Feet stay on the ground, beneath or behind your knees. When you press your feet into the ground, this activates your hamstrings and glutes 5 Head, shoulders and hips should remain on the bench throughout the lift. 6 -Maintain a strong natural arch in your lower back when you lie flat on the bench, activating your glutes will help you with this including bracing your core which will help you stabailsie.
