23.01.2022 It can be hard to eat well in the third trimester. Pregnancy hormones cause your digestion to slow down so that vital nutrients can be absorbed by your baby. This means that even the smallest meals can make you feel full or cause indigestion. In our expert interviews with nutritionist @zoebingleypullin, she recommended smoothies loaded with beautiful nutrient-rich foods to help you to stay nourished during your pregnancy as you prepare for birth. This is one of our favourite...s (and it contains Medjool dates which help the body prepare for birth!) Ingredients 1 Frozen Banana (Peel and cut into chunks before you freeze) 1 Handful Baby Spinach 1/2 Zucchini, sliced 1-2 Medjool Dates 1 Tbsp. Natural Protein Powder 1 Tsp. 22.01.2022 When it comes to preparing for birth, the most important thing is to keep an open mind. There are so many elements of birth that are out of our control, even more so right now. From our interview with @cope.org.au Founder Nicole Highet in the EMP. As a birthing mother, we understand that you may be feeling anxious about giving birth in the current climate. ... In this interview, psychologist Dr Nicole Highet shares the ways that you can handle your fears surrounding birth and maintain an open mind when it comes to your birth. Some of the other tips to managing your fears surrounding birth. Be very mindful of what you watch and listen to. Seek out positive birth stories (such as @australianbirthstories , @shebirths @cope.org.au) Stay active and including mindful practices in your day. Take time to journal or write down your fears so that they don’t snowball. Remember that every birth can be positive and empowering. You can plan, but only so much. Look for the lessons that these challenges are gifting to you and realise that they are helping you to become a stronger and more resilient mother. . . . . #positivebirth #birthstory #birthsupport #birthstories #naturalbirth #birthpreparation #prenatalyoga #pregnancyyoga #empoweredbirth #duedate #labour #empoweredmotherhood #prenatalanxiety #pregnancyanxiety #birthfears #covidbirth #birthstories

02.01.2022 STAGE 1 PROLAPSE - From the team at @womeninfocusphysio I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 1 prolapse, but I have no symptoms, what do I do? 1. First of all- big claps to you for getting yourself checked. A LOT of women do not get adequate pelvic floor assessments post birth so these underlying pelvic floor dysfunctions aren’t managed until problems start arising.... 2. Prolapse is managed by Women’s Health Physiotherapists and your GP or Gynaecologist. It is based around your symptoms, so health professionals take into account the frequency, intensity and bothersome scores of vaginal heaviness, dragging or bulge , if you are complaining of a loss of sensation with sex or reporting increased difficulty with emptying your bladder or bowel. 3. Now if you aren’t experiencing any of this- why do you have a prolapse? Stage 1 prolapse can exist in 50% of women who have never had a baby! Generally stage 1 prolapse (anterior and posterior) is considered NORMAL, and will almost always by asymptomatic. 4. So do I need to do my pelvic floor exercises? Ummm is the year 2021? We need to start looking at PREVENTING future pelvic floor dysfunction particularly if your physio has indicated that pelvic floor muscle strength would benefit your body! 5. Our Advice? - Get your pelvic floor assessed thoroughly by a Women’s Health Physiotherapist after birth even if you don’t have anything wrong and listen to our advice and check out the Strong with Prolapse + Pelvic Floor SAFE programs inside the @empoweredmother_ #pelvicfloor #postnatal #prolapse #stage1prolapse #prevention

01.01.2022 New Mamas. Take a deep breath. I promise it won’t be this hard forever. You’re exhausted, you’re weepy, you’re bleeding and stained with milk. You’ve got this new little person who is so dependent on you and so in love with you too. It is completely earth-shattering and overwhelming. We often want to label that postpartum period somehow- either saying it's amazing or it's f*cking hard or it's awful or it's bliss. The truth is it's ALL of these things all at the same ...time. And that’s ok. It doesn’t have to just be one thing. Try and take it slow. Soak in these moments and lay in bed and stare at your baby. Hold them skin to skin or wear them in a carrier. Listen to music or podcasts while you feed or binge a TV show you’ve always wanted to watch. Make or buy yourself something delicious and eat it guilt-free. Ask for help. Cry when you need to. Take a shower. New motherhood is so messy and so beautiful and mostly so all-consuming. It doesn’t have to be all good or all bad. It’s ok to live each little moment at a time. One night at a time. One breath at a time.
