23.01.2022 Congratulations to Shannon who started Tafe this year studying a Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs. Her livid experience has filled her with a desire to learn more about how she can help due to the ever growing rate of addiction in NSW; and the impact it plays in people’s lives and families. Shannon was able to purchase a laptop with a no interest NILS loan to complete her studies.

20.01.2022 Empowered Women Foundation started the Healing House for women and women and children 2 and a half years ago. Lives are changed when people know they are loved, worthy, supported and find purpose.

19.01.2022 Introducing ‘The Homestead’ another (Healing) House has been set up and furnished in a day thanks to our incredible community. (We received plenty more donations, the house isn’t fully finished but we are getting there and all will be used either now or when new things are needed as this stuff gets a lot of wear and tear). This house will help keep FAMILIES TOGETHER while we put in the right supports so families heal and find hope again. This coming new year in 2020 it will b...e my pleasure as the CEO of our humble little charity to host our community to a formal luncheon, where we can deliver to you just how much YOU have singlehandedly, through your kindness and generosity have impacted the future of little children, struggling mums and women who have believed that they are better off being alone and in emotional pain rather than reach out in their vulnerability and allow strangers to give them a helping hand up. That’s not easy to do. Many have walked the dark shadow of the valley of death and haven’t been able to find the light to get out. But in 3 years, we really have seen an impact worth talking about. You really have done so much for us and I look forward to giving you a presentation on how we as a community are helping people fight their battles by being kind and compassionate in times of need. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our causes. (There is still more to collect and we will get there this week, it’s been a tremendous job to complete this in this short time so thank you for your continued patience and understanding.) 17.01.2022 There is no magic fix to cure your addiction. You can’t think coming to rehab is magically going to make you get over your drug addiction. No, you’ll struggle w...ith thoughts of using, you’ll be faced with temptation, you’ll be struggling with urges to just say bugger it all and throw it in and pick up. Yes, that all still happens if you’re at home or at rehab. Rehab helps you have access to tools and community to help you overcomes all the above mentioned. When it all starts happening, thoughts, urges, impulsiveness to leave that’s when you have to use the tools. Instead of acting on everything you go through, you now have tools. You have learned breathing through it, praying till it passes, going to a meeting, talking to someone about how you feel. Among all of the tools there is some expected things you need to do as well. Like, reading your recovery book, doing your daily reflection work, listening to extra speaker tapes, telling the truth during your therapy groups, writing out your resentments and frustrations and sharing them. It’s not a magic wand waved over to fix you. It’s a house to live, food in your belly, police chasing you ceased so you can get your head right and face your life, family forgiving you, bills taken care of, no day to day pressures that normally increase the stress of recovery. But don’t be fooled, there is a lot of work YOU must do to get well. This is all your responsibility, no one else’s. You don’t want to do the work then you’ll never recover and will have what you’ve always had. Madness and loss. So instead of blaming everyone, pick up a recovery book and start reading like your life depends on it. Because. It does. No one can be responsible for you if you are not willing to do the action.
