22.01.2022 World Backup Day Today is World Backup Day and we're encouraged to make sure we have a backup of all our important documents. Did you know we’ve created more information in the last two years than in the entirety of recorded history? ... So, you might be asking why should you backup? Well, because losing your files is way more common than you’d think. Ever lost your phone, camera, tablet or laptop? Your important documents could have been saved with a backup! Here's some stats: 30% of people have never backed up 113 phones are lost or stolen every minute 1 in 10 computers are infected with a virus each month To be honest, I take things one step further and store everything in the cloud ... think OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox etc ... and use them from there. That way, if my computer, tablet or phone is lost, stolen or destroyed I still have access to my documents - anywhere in the world! 11.01.2022 Tech Tip Tuesday Sometimes when I start working with a client, they have preferred colours they want me to use BUT they don’t have the colour codes. This can be an issue if they want me to create something in the same colour palette that they already have ... Enter the Canva Palette Generator [www.canva.com/colors/color-palette-generator/] - just upload a picture or logo and it will give you the colour codes in HEX, which is perfect to use for any online resource If you're just starting to think about your colours, they also have the ability for you to choose from their colour palettes that are ready to go or to work to create your own custom colour palette from one colour that you love! 10.01.2022 Tech Tip Tuesday Ok, so you've been using Loom to record your screen & up until recently it's been free ... all good! However, did you know that Loom have recently put a five minute limit on their free account?... I've been using & recommending this software for quite some time - I use it for recording work instructions & also if clients have a question about how to do something, it's sometimes easier to do a quick video rather than an email. So, with this new update, I went on the hunt for a new app. It's funny how every time I've looked for a new way of doing something, I find it already on my Mac or in a program suite that I already own. Enter QuickTime Player ... The good news is if you own a Mac not only can you use QuickTime Player to play videos, you can also capture an entire screenshot capture a selected window screenshot capture a selected portion screenshot capture an audio recording capture a movie (using your Mac camera) and last but not least capture your screen in a video with audio The only difference is that you can't record your screen with cam recording too (the little bubble of your face in Loom) but I'm quite happy with that!
