18.01.2022 ANZ STADIUM TO HOST NRL GRAND FINAL The 2020 NRL Grand Final will be played at ANZ Stadium, giving more league fans the opportunity to enjoy the game in a COVID Safe environment. The NSW Government and the NRL have been working together to relocate the Telstra Premiership Grand Final from the Sydney Cricket Ground to ANZ Stadium.... The move allows for 40,000 fans to attend the blockbuster game under current COVID-19 restrictions. Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the opportunity to welcome more spectators to the Grand Final was a significant win for Sydney and rugby league. ANZ Stadium has hosted many of Australia’s most iconic moments in sporting history and the 2020 NRL Grand Final will be among them, Minister Ayres said. I encourage NRL fans attending the Grand Final to stay COVID Safe and make the most of the electric atmosphere in Sydney by making a weekend of it, booking a hotel staycation and getting out to enjoy the hospitality and attractions of the city. Tourism and major events will be crucial to the state’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan, so we’re pleased that we have been able to facilitate a large-scale sporting event in a safe and exciting way. NRL has a significant following in NSW, and with some borders reopening we hope that fans from across the country will be able to enjoy the action and Sydney’s many world-class tourism experiences as well. Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the move to ANZ Stadium would give the Grand Final more atmosphere with extra fans in the stands to see the live action. Since 1999, ANZ Stadium has been the home of the NRL Grand Final giving fans so many fond memories from some truly epic showdowns, Mr Lee said. 2020 won’t be a full house but the 40,000 fans who do get tickets to the game will I’m sure relish the opportunity to watch a live grand final after what’s been a tough testing season. NRL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Abdo said the 2020 Grand Final would be historic, like no other. We can’t wait to see 40,000 fans at the venue. Our fans have been so patient and loyal throughout the season and having crowd caps increased for the Finals Series is the perfect way to acknowledge that loyalty, Mr Abdo said. We are working on innovative ways to showcase the pre-game entertainment and returning to ANZ Stadium will provide us with the space to put on the most dynamic show possible. Tickets to the 2020 NRL Grand Final will be on sale from Wednesday 30 September. For more information and to purchase tickets: www.nrl.com

18.01.2022 Young girl sexually assaulted at Penrith play centre; investigation underway Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad are investigating the sexual assault of a toddler at a play centre in Sydneys west. Emergency services were called to the play centre on Mulgoa Road, Penrith about 12.20pm yesterday (Sunday 26 July 2020), after a two-year-old girl was found injured.... Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. The matter was referred to the State Crime Commands Child Abuse and Sex Crimes squad who have launched an investigation. Initial inquiries suggest the girl was sexually assaulted by an unknown man. Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact police, in particular those who were at the play centre yesterday and may have witnessed suspicious behaviour. The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect. Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. People should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.

09.01.2022 Changed traffic conditions on M4 Motorway between Wallgrove Road and Roper Road Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week along a section of the M4 Motorway at Minchinbury. A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the work will be carried out as part of the $600 million M4 Smart Motorway project which is introducing intelligent technology to the M4 Motorway between Pitt Street and Mulgoa Road.... Crews are continuing to carry out work on the M4 Smart Motorway which is expected to open to traffic later this year, the spokesperson said. While an extra lane was opened in each direction between Wallgrove Road and Roper Road in early 2019 to provide more capacity for motorists, a section of the additional eastbound lane was not opened to traffic so major work could safely continue. Crews are now preparing to open the additional lane from late June. The spokesperson said work will be carried out between Wednesday 10 and Wednesday 17 June from 9pm to 4am, weather permitting. Work will involve removing the existing chevron line marking, laying new asphalt as well as installing new line marking and signs, the spokesperson said. While work is carried out, one eastbound lane along the M4 Motorway will be closed between Roper Road and Archbold Road. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of signs and traffic control. The community and motorists are thanked for their ongoing patience and will be updated as the project progresses. For the latest traffic updates download the Live Traffic NSW App, visit livetraffic.com or call 132 701.

07.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY ON ADDITIONAL COMMUTER CAR PARKING SPACES AT EMU PLAINS STATION Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith is inviting public transport customers and the local community to have their say on plans for 750 additional car parking spaces at Emu Plains Station. The Commuter Car Park Program is designed to make it easier for customers who need to drive part of their journey to access public transport hubs, Stuart Ayres said.... This project will not only provide more access to parking for the community but employ dozens of people in a range of fields including engineering, construction and administration roles. Connectivity, safety and security are the highest priority and the proposal includes CCTV and lighting and road upgrades to accommodate turning lanes. A new pedestrian bridge over Old Bathurst Road is also part of the proposal, which will provide providing safe and direct access to the station. I am encouraging everyone to provide feedback on the plans for the project, community consultation is vital to the project’s success. The concept design for the proposed car park can be viewed online and the community are invited to submit their feedback via the feedback form on the project website www.transport.nsw.gov.au/emuplains by emailing [email protected] or calling 1800 684 490. Subject to community consultation and planning approval, construction is planned to begin in early 2021 and is expected to be completed in early 2022. The Emu Plains Commuter Car Park project is a joint initiative of the Federal and State Governments to provide additional commuter parking and ease congestion on roads. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the delivery of additional commuter parking at Emu Plains Station is being accelerated as part of the NSW Government’s $3 billion Infrastructure and Job Acceleration Fund.

07.01.2022 Mayor confident of a Penrith win, hints at public holiday to celebrate Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM has thrown the City’s support behind the Penrith Panthers this weekend as they look to secure their third NRL premiership title. Penrith City Council and the Penrith community will be cheering on the Panthers come Sunday night, Cr McKeown said. Our community has rallied around the Panthers since their inception into the league in 1967 and that support is evident everyw...here you look around Penrith at the moment everyone is displaying the team’s colours and in some cases houses and businesses have been painted in the Panthers colours to show their support. Cr McKeown said that so many in the community have drawn inspiration from the team in what has been a challenging year for everyone. The team has provided hope to not only the Penrith community, but also the fire ravaged communities they visited earlier this. It’s those visits that lift the spirit and strengthens the resilience of communities, Cr McKeown said. Asked what it was that will see Penrith come out on top, Cr McKeown said there’s just so many things that point towards a Panthers victory that you cannot ignore their significance. It’s been 17 years since the team last won the Premiership, they’ve had 17 wins in a row leading up to Sunday’s game and a win in the grand final will make it an NRL record for the most wins, Cr McKeown said. In 2003, the team won a with a father/son combination and in 2020 the Cleary’s have shown that has worked really well for them. Plus, Penrith have won two of the three grand finals they’ve played in, while the Storm’s winning record of grand finals is almost half that. Cr McKeown said a victory on Sunday night against the Melbourne Storm would see Penrith celebrate long and hard. I may need to consider declaring a public holiday for Monday so we can celebrate the win properly it would be un-Australian not to, wouldn’t it? 01.01.2022 NEWS JUST IN COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS EASED Gatherings in outdoor public spaces and group bookings at restaurants will be increased to 30 people under a relaxation of COVID-19 rules. ... From this Friday, 23 October: 30 people can gather outdoors in public spaces (previously this was 20); 30 customers per booking, and 30 customers per table at hospitality venues (previously the rule was a maximum of 10); In addition, as of last Friday 16 October, corporate functions of up to 300 people can now be held at any appropriate premises, including at restaurants, subject to a COVID-Safe plan (previously just function centres). Additionally, from 1 December, the number of people who can attend weddings will be lifted to 300 people subject to the four square metre rule indoors and two square metre rule outdoors. This will allow people to make plans and book venues knowing the capacity ahead of time. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the NSW Government remains focused on managing COVID-19 and opening up the economy in a COVID-Safe way. These changes will provide a big boost to our hospitality venues, Ms Berejiklian said. As we ease restrictions and find new ways to get businesses moving it is vital that customers and venues continue to be COVID-Safe. Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said this was another important step in driving our economic recovery while returning to life in a COVID-Safe way. We continue to remain focused on stimulating the economy, keeping businesses in business and people in jobs, Mr Perrottet said. The easing of restrictions and safely increasing capacities will lead directly to more jobs and more opportunities for businesses across NSW, which is integral for the State’s recovery. Minister for Health Brad Hazzard said lower case numbers are a good sign but we are by no means out of the woods. It is vital as we ease restrictions people continue to do the right thing, stay home if unwell and get tested, even with the most minimal of symptoms, Mr Hazzard said. Minister for Jobs, Investment and Tourism Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government remains focused on creating jobs and stimulating the economy, key goals of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan. We want to see NSW get back on track in a COVID-safe way and this is another important step, Mr Ayres said. NSW Health Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said people still need to continue to follow the personal hygiene recommendations, maintain physical distancing and wear masks in indoor settings where you cannot physically distance. As we ease restrictions, we all need to maintain COVID-safe behaviours and practices, Dr Chant said. Businesses wishing to take advantage of the relaxed restrictions must use electronic methods, like QR codes, to record and keep contact details.

01.01.2022 Happy Friday followers! Restrictions are easing from Saturday!
