25.01.2022 Well that was an interesting night!! It looked promising at 5pm. Thanks to all who came out to give the night a chance. Whilst the rain was cool, unfortunately the lightning is a showstopper. ... Thank you to everyone who helped pack up in record time! That was amazing! Let’s hope for better weather next week.

25.01.2022 COMPETITION WEEK 10 - 11TH DEC Program A All athletes and spectators are to be on the top oval by 6pm.... Santa will be joining us this week. Please note the following IMPORTANT information: Santa will be arriving on the TOP OVAL (not the main oval) at Leonay tomorrow at 6pm due to safety restrictions. Please check-in as normal at the clubhouse and head up the hill to the top oval. Athletes will be required, as per our COVID plan, to remain in their age groups, with their Age Manager, where their group will be signposted on the fence towards the freeway end of the top oval. Parents may also spectate but please stand back from the age groups unless you are a parent helper. All athletes and spectators must remain behind the metal handrail of the field. Age Managers and Helpers - please grab your Age Group folder and vest on the way up to the top oval after you check-in as age groups will go straight to their first event after Santa departs. Parents are to return to the usual designated spectator area. The main oval will be set up the same as any other week. If you have volunteered on the roster this week please head to your job or ask a committee member for assistance. There are a lot of works going on around the oval this week due to the lighting and electrical upgrades so please heed warning signs and obstructions and take care when moving around. We are also without a PA system so please be sure to read these instructions carefully and follow the guidance from committee members. Santa's visit will mean competition will start a little later than usual, hopefully by 6:40pm. It is also supposed to be cool tonight so your athletes may need jackets. See you all soon!!

19.01.2022 We are currently seeking someone to learn the timing gate setup at the oval to help provide us with some redundancy if it’s needed. It’s a great job as you get to sit down all night and see the action up close. We only require you pay attention to detail, remain focussed while events are taking place and have a willingness to learn. It is a very important role as accuracy is important but it is also a fun role. 18.01.2022 Important information. We had a few enquiries today about multiple parents attending per family on Friday nights. Whilst the latest COVID advice from NSW Health indicates more than one parent may attend at sport, we are still bound by a 500 person limit at the oval.... With the number of registered athletes, spectators and officials on the field at any one time this season we are almost at our limit. We cannot allow more than one parent per athlete until the 500 person cap is lifted. 17.01.2022 Rego Pack collection and Uniforms 11am-1pm @ Leonay Oval Registration packs can be collected today for those who have already registered online. ... Please ensure you bring: - proof of age; and - your list of volunteer duties Rego packs will not be issued unless four duties per athlete have been selected. There are many volunteer duties that still require allocation including hurdles help, starting assistance, pack up and a finish line recorder. These are all important jobs that we cannot manage the season without. Uniforms will be available today however they cannot be tried on. Please bring an item of clothing of your child’s for comparison. EFTpos facilities will be available. See you soon!

12.01.2022 REGISTRATION & SEASON UPDATE Updated 27th September 2020 Competition nights will remain at 1 session only as we do not have the member numbers to justify splitting the night into two sessions. ... The event program will remain at 2 weekly rotation. There is no Tiny Tots program this season. As we cannot hold a muster, due to COVID-19 restrictions, competition will start at 6:00pm for ALL age groups. With the season starting in less than two weeks, it is important for athletes to have their registrations completed online and collected on our collection days to be eligible to compete on our first night. Late registrations will start in Week 3. Registration Pack collection and uniform dates will be held at Leonay Oval over two sessions: 1. Saturday 3rd October from 11am - 1pm (athletes must be registered by Wednesday night 30 Sept to collect) 2. Wednesday 7th October from 6-8pm (athletes must be registered by Sunday night 4th September to collect). 09.01.2022 Presentation Award Collection A collection evening has been arranged for athletes to collect presentation items from last season on Friday 18th September from 5-7pm. This includes zone & region certificates, trophies, jackets and region gifts which have been prepackaged for each recipient. Participation medals will be also be available. ... We will be working on a drive through system in the car park at Leonay oval. We ask that families remain in their vehicles and provide their name to the attendant at the gate. You may then proceed to a pick up point in the car park where you will be met with your items. This will be the only designated date for presentation award collection.

06.01.2022 Unfortunately Zone and Region Championships will not go ahead this season. We will keep everyone informed about potential State Championships in March as information is made available. This won’t stop us from having a great season so if you haven’t yet registered, there it still plenty of time to do so!

05.01.2022 Working Bee Saturday from 8am This Saturday we would love some help from 8am getting the oval into shape. A few extra hands will make all the difference. ... If you can rake, sweep, help carry things and be of general assistance we would love for you to join us if you can. We have long jump pits to tidy, we need to transfer items from storage into the visitors room and generally be sure everything is physically in order before competition starts next week. Any amount of time and help you can give will be appreciated.

02.01.2022 STATE RELAYS CANCELLED Little Athletics NSW have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 State Relay Championships, scheduled to be held in November. This decision has not been made lightly, but it is in line with the current NSW Government and NSW Department of Health restrictions regarding COVID-19. The 2019 State Relays attracted approximately 3,500 attendees, including athletes, parents, and spectators. As the current restrictions sit at limiting events to under 500 people, it is not feasible to schedule an event of this size in the near future.

01.01.2022 AGE MANAGERS & ASSISTANTS NEEDED With our season getting underway in exactly four weeks we need to ensure our age groups each have an Age Manager and an Assistant. If you would like to be an Age Manager/Assistant please send us an email to [email protected].... Being an Age Manager is a whole lot of fun and no experience is necessary. Age Managers are a vital part of our Friday nights and our athletes need you. This also takes care of volunteer duties for the season. Please consider helping out as we cannot run our Friday nights without the help.

01.01.2022 WET OR EXTREME WEATHER Decisions regarding wet or extreme weather are made by the Executive Committee on the day of competition and are never made lightly. Any decision to postpone competition or cancel the evening will always be made within the guidelines set by Little Athletics NSW with the safety of our athletes, volunteers and officials in mind.... We aim to make decisions by 4:30pm on Fridays, however, always assume competition is on unless, or until, we state otherwise Please do not call, message or email as it is too difficult to respond. Information will be posted by 4:30pm on our website and on Facebook. Any full program week cancelled will be run the following week.
