15.01.2022 Hi Everyone Purple Orange are hiring! This would be a great first job opportunity for anyone looking to get into employment for the first time. Have a read and see if this is a good fit for you. We are hiring!... Do you believe in the importance of making friends and getting involved in the local community? Are you motivated, friendly and keen to be part of an innovative new project? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We are looking for a Project Leader to run (with support) a community gardening pilot project called ‘Dig In.’ You would help to bring the joys of gardening to the houses of people living with disability who would not otherwise be able to access their local community garden. You might learn a thing or two about growing vegetables yourself! JFA Purple Orange is a social-profit organisation working to create a world where people who live with disability get a fair go at everything life has to offer. Our activities include: providing information services to the disability community; supporting the emergence and maintenance of peer networks; providing capacity-building opportunities to the disability community; conducting research and developing policy proposals; delivering consultations to inform government policy; telling the stories of people living with disability; and delivering government-funded programs. For this role, you will have strong social values, good oral communication skills and good organisational skills. Most importantly, you will be friendly and enthusiastic about getting this exciting new project off the ground. You will work alongside a Policy and Research Leader who loves gardening and mentoring new colleagues. The role is offered for 15.2 hours per week. You could spread these hours throughout the week, or work two full days each week. People living with disability are strongly encouraged to apply. Last week, we all went around and shared what we have all been doing over the past few months. ... We talked about the changes happening with EYDN. Flowing on from that we asked whether you feel the Peer Network should change its name. We wanted to hear from you about what you would like to learn more about in the next few months and into the new year. Some of these were: Mental Health Knowing your rights Travel Safe relationships.
