25.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE: ENABLE RE-OPENING You've probably heard that the lockdown will be lifted at midnight on Saturday and restrictions will revert to the 4 sqm rule for many services. Enable Fitness Centre will re-open on Monday and be back to regular scheduling. If you have a session booked for next week, it will proceed as previously scheduled.... 14.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE: MASKS Yesterday SA Health have released information about places you should wear a mask to assist with the control and management of the recent COVID-19 situation (see attached image). Today, 24th of November 2020, the state government recommended all individuals wear a mask when accessing hospital, aged care and allied health facilities. This includes exercise physiology and dietetics services here at Enable Fitness Centre. ... It is important we all do our part to assist and support the community in response to this recent COVID-19 incident. This includes wearing masks where appropriate. For those who are accessing our services we encourage you to wear a mask at your next appointment. If you do not own or have access to a mask we are happy to provide a mask the next time you are onsite. We will do our best to stay informed about this changing situation and provide updates as soon as possible. If you have any questions please give us a call.

12.01.2022 Para-Badminton We were lucky to attended the come and try session on Sunday with the team from Badminton South Australia. The facilities were top-notch and the staff were very friendly. The team knew exactly how to best help players with a range of abilities. It’s a great activity that can keep you fit and have fun! It’s great that they are going out of their way to push the para badminton program. Checkout the website for more details.

If you have a spinal cord injury and are thinking about getting back to work, you are invited to join a research study (in conjunction with The University of Adelaide) by completing a quick online survey. All participants will receive individual counselling support with a vocational counsellor based at PQSA. 11.01.2022 COVID UPDATE: ENABLE FITNESS CENTRE IS OPEN As of Monday 16th of November, Enable Fitness Centre will continue to be open and we are continuing to run our therapy sessions as usual. This will continue until Government restrictions prevent us from opening. Restrictions announced by the SA Government today do not apply to our services. We are closely monitoring government advice, guidelines and restrictions, and will keep all our clients updated about the status of Enable Fit...ness Centre where required. I can assure you that we are taking this issue seriously and are taking measures to ensure all our clients continue to have access to high quality services in an environment which is clean and safe. We will continue to provide hand hygiene facilities for all clients to use and staff will sanitise equipment after every use. We would like to please ask all of you to follow these simple steps to ensure your safety and that of all our other users: Apply hand hygiene when entering and exiting Enable Fitness Centre by using the hand sanitiser or soap and water provided Follow physical distancing guidelines with other clients or staff by keeping a distance of at least 1.5m Cough and sneeze into elbows and apply hand hygiene immediately following DO NOT attend Enable Fitness Centre if you come into direct contact with someone who is unwell in the past 14 days DO NOT attend any sessions if you are unwell or showing any signs or symptoms of cold, flu or COVID-19 (standard infection control guidelines) Minimise your time in the Centre by arriving at your scheduled time and leaving immediately following your session to avoid unnecessary contact with other users Your sessions will continue as scheduled, including group sessions, as the maximum number of people in the Centre at any one time currently complies with government regulations. However, if you have concerns about attending Enable Fitness Centre with other users, please let me know and we will explore other options for you during this period, including individual sessions, telehealth or home visits . 10.01.2022 Introducing the face behind Enable Fitness Centre - Ross Gray! Ross is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a passion for helping people with a disability to maximise their physical, mental and social potential. He has been practicing as the Principle Exercise Physiologist for the South Australian Spinal Cord Injury Service (SASCIS) at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre for the past 5 years. Ross also has a range of experience with programs including stroke, cancer, park...inson's, and cardiac rehab, whilst practicing at the Centre for Physical Activity in Ageing (CPAA) at the Hampstead. He has also been involved with extensive research projects including a Stroke Fitness Study & Spinal Cord Injury and Physical Activity Study. With a wealth of knowledge about exercise and rehabilitation processes, Ross is known for delivering high quality services. 10.01.2022 Today is such a special day, celebrating people with disability and all that they achieve. The aim of International Day of People with Disability - Australia is... to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. Unfortunately, we are unable to celebrate with you this year like we have in previous years and we hope that in 2021 our event in Victoria Square, Adelaide will be a time for us to celebrate all together again. As a part of our celebrations for International Day of People with Disability SA 2020, we are recognising four individuals, who have made an extraordinary contribution to the disability community. The awards provided the opportunity for people living with disability, their relatives, carers, and others, to acknowledge someone that has made a difference in their lives. Our 2020 International Day of People with Disability SA Award winners are: OUTSTANDING PERSON WITH A DISABILITY Holly Scott - Advocate for Road Safety Ruth Mott - Volunteer as a PQSA Regional Peer Support Coordinator and advocate for people with a spinal cord injury. OUTSTANDING SERVICE OR SUPPORT April Wilson - Advocate for people living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER Locky Miller - Volunteer and Mentor for people who have experienced traumatic brain injury. 05.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE: TEMPORARY CLOSURE We have received advice that the latest restrictions announced by the South Australian Government for a temporary lockdown includes allied health services. We regret to inform all our clients that this means Enable Fitness Centre will be closed immediately.... During the course of the lockdown, we are still able to provide telehealth services - please get in touch if you would like to book in a session.
