12.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone During a teleconference this afternoon with Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, State Ministers and Mayors, the Premier of Queensland announced that the easing of restrictions for discrete Indigenous and remote communities will be at the discretion of each individual Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG). This means that the Cook Shire LDMG’s request to join the rest of Queensland for travel of all persons into and out of Cook Shire, has been approved ...and is effective from midday on Friday 3 July. In line with the Roadmap for Easing Queensland Restrictions, this has occurred following community consultation and an assessment of public health advice, confirmed by the Chief Health Officer, with assurance that there is sufficient capability to support communities in the event of a COVID case. We understand that the Queensland Government will maintain the Vehicle Control Point (VCP) on the Mulligan Highway for license and health checks for the time being. Thank you all for your continued patience during this very difficult time. Further information will be provided as it comes to hand.
