07.01.2022 The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and the Community Grants Hub has selected Senses Australia as a preferred provider for National Readiness Grant Round (2) under the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Program.. The grant funding is for $475,811.00 to deliver a Deafblind Information Hub. This web-based resource will address the currently unmet need of mainstream services to effectively support Australians with deafblindness. Mainstream service pro...viders have extremely limited knowledge and understanding of the multiple and complex needs and challenges faced by Australians with deafblindness. The Deafblind Information Hub will assist in capacity building of these services by helping to ensure the provision of informed and appropriate services and plans for people with deafblindness. Considerable time can be wasted by linking people with deafblindness with services inadequately equipped to meet their needs and resulting in negative experiences of both the service users and service providers. The Hub will involve the further development and expansion of functionality of Senses Australia’s existing National Deafblind Information website, originally funded by a philanthropist Andrew Forrest (FMG), to become an interactive source of accessible information and support for service providers. Ongoing updates will be provided.
