22.01.2022 WHAT DOES SICK EVEN LOOK LIKE? // Yep, people walking around on the streets that look "fine" on the outside could be battling a chronic and debilitating condition The façade that chronic illness warriors put on to get through the day is not only admirable but so believable that people may question if something is even amiss when it comes to your health Whilst these comments are certainly unwarranted and totally inappropriate, I alwa...ys love to tell people, then my acting is worthy of an Oscar then? And by the way, can I see your medical degree? How do you deal with these comments? Via @endohealthhub See more

Bake in a hot oven for 12 minutes until crispy Top with freshly washed and chopped baby spinach or rocket (or arugula) for a pop of green - forgot to do this step this day! And enjoy! Would you give this "pizza" a go? Tell me below! See more
17.01.2022 ALWAYS IN THE LOO? // Diarrhoea is defined by too frequent (3 times or more openings daily) bowel motions and/or loose stool consistency For endo warriors, diarrhoea can be a regular occurrence whether due to having IBS or just around the time of the month due to those pesky prostaglandins So, given I have shared my tips and tricks on managing constipation, I thought I would do the same for managing diarrhoea!... 1. If you're experiencing acute bouts of diarrhoea it is critical that you avoid dehydration, keep on top of your fluids and check your urine colour, you may need to use an electrolyte replenishment product with sodium, potassium and sugar to help rehydrate (P.S. this sugar is absolutely necessary, don't go zero sugar here!) 2. Work with a dietitian to manipulate your fibre intake, if you've switched to a more plant-focused diet it could be the excess fibre contributing to some loose motions, or perhaps you need to bump up specific fibre types like soluble fibre and resistant starch to help modify your poop consistency 3. Another management strategy can be a specific probiotic prescription from your dietitian, this needs to be taken daily for at least 4 weeks before you can evaluate if it is helping or not. Have you tried any of these strategies before? Tell me below! See more

13.01.2022 WHAT NOT TO FEEL GUILTY ABOUT // Food and guilt shouldn't exist in the same sentence (unless you stole the food!), and yet, I see it nearly daily in my clients! Here are the top things I hear my clients feeling bad about and what I say to them to help combat the guilt: 1. Eating a known trigger food in a social setting because you wanted it - yep, you may know you will be paying for it, but I think this is a totally different way to ...be making a food choice rather than feeling constantly paralysed and restricted because you don't know what's going on in your body! Life is too short to miss out on these kinds of memories and experiences with loved ones. 2. Eating red meat - if you're cool with eating red meat as it aligns with your values and you find you don't have any issues with it, even if everyone is telling you not to, it's your body and you know you best, if this works for you then don't feel guilty about it - keep at it! 3. Not wanting to sacrifice a particular food or drink even though you've read you should - a common one is coffee. Now, I think this one is important, even if you felt better by reducing your coffee intake, would you miss it so much that other areas of your life would suffer? Yes? Then maybe it's okay not to trial it. 4. Alcohol on a special occasion (or just because) - this is another big one, yep, we know it's a gut irritant, and not the best for endo or when trying to conceive either, but you're probably not going to go your entire adult life without being in a situation where you might want to enjoy a glass or two. And that's A-okay! We are humans first and foremost, we need to enjoy ourselves! No room for food guilt here! What have you felt guilty about eating or drinking in the past? Tell me below! See more
10.01.2022 FODMAP vs GLUTEN // Do you know the difference? Many endo warriors follow or trial a gluten-free diet to help manage some of their symptoms and notice some improvement but not a complete improvement Others trial it but don't notice much difference ... And it could be because you're missing some this little puzzle piece, the difference between FODMAPs and Gluten could be it A FODMAP is a fermentable fibre or carbohydrate found in fruit, vegetables, nuts, legumes, beans, grains and cereals Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and spelt It is a COMPLETELY different food component! Some key examples that stick out to me is that spelt bread or pasta is low FODMAP but still contains gluten Same for a small portion of cooked wheat pasta is considered low FODMAP but higher amounts are not and this still contains gluten And flip it around, you have lots of naturally gluten-free foods that are high in FODMAPs like honey, beans, garlic, onion, cauliflower, mangoes, raisins and cashews to name just a few. The middle ground tends to be rice, small amounts of corn and quinoa that are both low FODMAP and gluten-free Why does this matter? Well, you could be better managing your symptoms and you could be increasing your dietary flexibility too! WIN-WIN! 09.01.2022 LOW FODMAP VEGGIES // I'm often met with a bewildered expression from my clients on Zoom when I show them the list of foods they will need to temporarily avoid to follow a low FODMAP diet "But they're healthy" Yep, the low FODMAP diet, indeed, limits many nutritious foods including certain types of fruit and vegetables due to their fermentable carbohydrate content that can be a trigger for some sensitive individuals who also have IBS ...as well as endometriosis Here are some tips to help you make the swap! Heads up, the low FODMAP diet should not be trialled unsupervised, you MUST be working with a dietitian to avoid unnecessary restrictions, deficiencies and all round little flexibility on this diet (which is short-term by the way) I'm diving into gut health and symptoms inside my program, Get Pregnant with Endo, link in my bio to get on the waitlist today!
