24.01.2022 If you want to reach your potential, you have to train the right way. For example, a bodybuilding program won't help footballers become better. A body sculpture program won't help netballers become better netballers. A marathon runner won't benefit from a sprinting program. No matter what your sport, if you want to perform your best, you need to train specific. Then you give yourself the best chance with minimal excuses. Training specific will also reduce chances of injury... and down time. Unlike bodybuilding, you want your muscles to be as powerful as they look. Muscular development is an added benefit to the training you perform, rather than primary focus. Ensure that every gain in muscle mass that you develop is accompanied by an at least equal development in physical ability, and your time in the gym is not wasted, your performance improves and your potential is reached. 19.01.2022 Jay Smyth joined me in a 60min Kickr session today 2 x 15min threshold efforts. I was keeping mine above 250 watts, Jay was keeping his above 200 watts, both at a cadence of 80 - 85 rpm. Jays training for Ironman Cairns 2021 so the threshold watt training he puts out on the Kickr will corolate to a greater power out put on the road.
