24.01.2022 WORKING FROM HOME? . Working off that work laptop at home? People say posture doesn't matter? Try sitting inside a cardboard box for a few hours and then we'll talk. ... . There might be no such thing as the 'perfect' posture, and if you stay in any position too much, too long, something will get sore... BUT we do know that muscles work better and happier for longer if they're working at their optimal length - hold a weight in one hand and have it close to your body. Now hold the same weight in one hand but have it far away from your body. Which way are you going to tire out with first? . No sit-stand up desk or extra monitor? NO WORRIES . Shoe box/books to get that laptop screen up towards eye level. Your neck will be cheering . Dining table and solid chair, lumbar support or little cushion behind your back to keep you from extreme slouching. Get off the couch, the bed, the floor! . Plug in that extra keyboard and mouse you have lying around or go get one. They can be quite affordable. Your shoulders will thank you . Who knows how long you'll be working from home for so let's at least do the best we can with what we have. Your wallet will thank you . . . . #wfh #workfromhome #homeoffice #neckpain #physio

22.01.2022 Wondering why youve suddenly woke up with neck, shoulder or upper back pain in the past few weeks while working from home? Didnt do anything unusual to deserve it? The reason might be STRESS . Check out the video for more. . Were making use of this downtime to try new things and have some fun. Enjoy! We enjoyed making it ... https://youtu.be/E3tvd5RKCso
22.01.2022 If you dont use it, you lose it! We see so many people in their 40s 50s and 60s. Many of these will say their biggest problem is their age. Some of our 60 year old clients can do 50 push ups in a row yet some of our 50 year olds struggle to walk for 10 minutes. There is an obvious pattern we see: Those who enjoy moving and make time for exercise generally are... more aware of their body, have better outcomes with recovery and are those who have more energy living their lives with less restrictions If you want to start reaping the benefits of exercising but worried about doing the wrong thing or unsure of how to start, talk to your physio, exercise physiologist or GP!
22.01.2022 We can all relate to this right now! Some of us are going a little crazy! . Its important for us all to do the right thing, but we can get a bit lost in these gloomy times . Remember to do the best you can, as often as you can and dont forget to keep the spirits high!
21.01.2022 Yep, lets get it together everybody!

19.01.2022 Its easier said than done but its another way to look at stress and anxiety Many clients come in for help with chronic stiff neck and shoulders... Many of them agree and understand that stress is a big part of the underlying issue There are different types of stress e.g psychological, physical, physiological. ... When we are in a stressed state our heart rate increases, breathing patterns change (becomes quicker and shallower), muscles stiffen up etc While some stress can be beneficial, too much stress (and prolonged stress) can eventually wear you down, make you sick and make you sore ! 18.01.2022 Plastic Bag Ban cause Shoulder Injuries??? As the article suggests, some of us are noticing more shoulder complaints from the people around us because theyre trying to heave around their shopping bags which have suddenly doubled or tripled in weight (weve all been stuffing our 15c bags to the max) . "The supermarkets are to blame!"... Maybe... Maybe not... . But what we CAN take away from this is that sometimes the reasons for our injuries can be a little sneaky. Something seemingly good for us (like helping the environment with reusable bags or deciding to take up extra days at work for some extra cash or going on a 3 week holiday walking around Europe) may be unsuspectingly putting our bodies in situations where they have to suddenly work beyond their current capacity. . This also reminds us that we have to be a little careful when suddenly increasing our exercise loads e.g. bumping up our weights at the gym or kms in our runs (especially after a long break). . Its almost always best to reach our goals in a gradual, progressive manner! . http://www.abc.net.au//overloaded-reusable-bags-/10017294 . . . #physio #energisetherapyclinic #overuseinjuries #burwoodphysio #shoulderpain #traininginjuries
17.01.2022 [[ Congrats Andrew ]] Hes suffered four shoulder dislocations in a short span of time. It got to the point where doing something as simple as catching a frisbee lead to an ambulance call. Andrews shoulder was not in a good way and he was advised to have surgery. . Determined to play sport again, Andrew has been working hard and committed. While respecting his wish to avoid surgery, weve come a long way and can see his shoulder and overall fitness is getting stronger and stronger. Today, Andrews managed to push the heaviest weight he has ever been able to on a bench press! . Keep smashing goals Andrew!
