23.01.2022 Have you recently purchased a submersible water pump online from overseas? A number of submersible pumps have recently been found to be electrically unsafe and ...have been recalled. Check the model of your pump if its a Wacwagner 1HP, 1.5HP or 2HP model submersible bore pump, stop using it immediately; the pump is designed for use in bore water wells and has no earthing connection to the pump, leading to a significant risk of electric shock. Take care when purchasing online electrical equipment as it may not comply with Australian safety standards. Russell, an electrician on the site, was working at an electrical substation on 29 July 2011 when the arc flash occurred. 18.01.2022 The Electrical Licensing Committee has fined an electrical contractor $3,000 and required them to undertake third party audits as a result of failing to notify ...the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) that their nominated qualified technical person (QTP) had left the business almost 12 months earlier. They had continued to trade without nominating a new QTP. The current QTP and qualified business person (QBP) were also required to undertake training. The QTP plays an important role in ensuring electrical work carried out by the business is performed in an electrically safe way and the electrical work is tested and is electrically safe. Electrical contractors are reminded that they must notify ESO within 30 days of the nominated QTP or QBP leaving the business. If you are a QTP or QBP and you have left the business, you can check you have been removed by visiting the ESO public licence search register at www.electricalsafety.qld.gov.au See more

While standing on a platform picking mangoes, two workers received an electric shock as an aluminum picking pole contacted a high voltage single wire earth return (SWER) uninsulated power line carrying 19.1 kV.
