23.01.2022 Flashback Friday Health and safety back in the 1920s clearly wasn’t quite what we have come to expect in today’s day and age! A man atop an electricity pole in Brisbane performing maintenance. Image held by University of Queensland eSpace.
23.01.2022 What a great result for the Bundaberg Regional Irrigators Group BRIG. This award represents their ongoing adaption and innovation in energy efficiency - and to think it all started from a Queensland Government's Energy Savers Plus Program audit in 2016!

22.01.2022 Friday Flashback Children gather to celebrate the switching on of electricity in Normanton, North Queensland ca. 1955. Situated 320 miles west of Cairns, Normanton was outside the Cairns Regional Electricity Board (CREB) area. However, during this time assistance was given to these smaller and more remote communities to bring power from the larger centres where electricity was more readily available and accepted as part of everyday life. A new powerhouse in Normanton, with ...three 16kW alternators driven by diesel engines supplied electricity for domestic and street lighting, refrigerators and a few small commercial motors. Restrictions would be put in place for other applications, and stoves and wash boilers would not be allowed. At the switch-on ceremony (pictured), it comprised of almost the entire population of the town and the surrounding district. It was estimated around 70 residents took up the offer to have electricity installed. The switch was pressed and the town flooded with light. : State Library of Queensland

17.01.2022 AGL Energy is shifting up a gear and turning your EV car into a battery on wheels! AGL’s Virtual Power Plant, which consists of household batteries providing energy when the grid needs it (such as on hot summer days) is being expanded with an $8 million trial to include EVs, which are essentially batteries on wheels. We love this idea, and look forward to seeing the results!
16.01.2022 We’ve officially hit Summer! This week, parts of Queensland are expected to experience extremely hot days, with some areas belting out temperatures of 10 degrees above average. During these heat wave periods, the electrical grid can become overwhelmed with increased energy loads to cool our buildings. When this happens, the grid is forced to turn on additional, usually less efficient, large generators for extra electricity. We can all do our part to reduce our energy usage during these peak demand days simple measures like increasing the cooling temperature on your air conditioner by a couple of degrees can help reduce peak demand and avoid the risk of rolling outages.

06.01.2022 Brisbane-based electric vehicle charger producer and global technology company, Tritium has just unveiled its latest-generation Modular Scalable Charging (MSC) platform which enables sites to scale up charging rates as demand grows. Instead of a major hardware overhaul, the MSC platform simply requires a quick installation of additional electronic modules within the unit. Network operators can essentially pay as they grow allowing both options of more cars to charge at once or change the speed at which they provide a charge. This is a world-first in EV charging technology developed right here in Queensland.
02.01.2022 We know it’s time to get your festive on, but remember... Take care. Stay line aware.
