21.01.2022 Meet the Trainers: Michael Stoveld Michael has been an ESS trainer since 2013, however he has been working in the Electricity Supply Industry since 1991 as a Powerline Worker, Overhead HV Distribution Glove & Barrier Worker, and HV Switching Operator. Michael has always taken pride in being a Powerline Distribution Worker, and is now enjoying the satisfaction of being able to pass on his knowledge and experience to individuals who need to work safely in the ESI. He didnt k...now that he could become a trainer/assessor until getting the opportunity through ESS, and now has a newfound passion and career path. Michael also enjoys giving his input to resolve issues in the ESI and is a St Johns endorsed trainer.

18.01.2022 LABOUR WINS WA STATE ELECTION With the result called just 90minutes after polls closed. What does a Labour State Government mean for the Energy Sector and Electrical Supply Industry? The ALP has campaigned on the planned wave power farm in Albany and have suggested Carnegie Wave would build it. The Government also wants to start setting Albany up as a 100% renewable energy model town, but in recent days has seemed to shy away from their initial target of 50% renewables ...by 2030 for the whole state. Labour has also been extremely critical of the Libs plan to privatise Western Power, even though the ACCC have publicly stated that this could result in household electricity bill savings of up to 51%. A former energy union official, Bill Johnston looks very likely to retain his seat in Cannington and could be primed for a position as Minister for Energy in McGowans new Government. More is sure to be revealed in the coming weeks. But in the meantime what do you think the ALP could mean for WA in the next four years? Image: Australian Associated Press
15.01.2022 May I introduce four of The Australian's 1st Remote Community Utilities Workers from Western Australia. Congratulations Keith, Minty, Koomi and Robert for your great achievement. I would like to congratulate Horizon Power for their vision and commitment.
12.01.2022 Just a little Wednesday arvo giggle from the Australian Linesman group... just a few things wrong with this set up, don't you think?
11.01.2022 A very interesting Keep campaign launched by the Electrical Trades Union of Australia on the Tinder dating app in the lead up to this weekends State election. It certainly gave us a laugh! What do you think should WA keep or sell Western Power? Privatise or not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

04.01.2022 Has anyone checked out the MySkills.gov.au website? Thoughts? We were quite impressed (we all know how some Govt website can be) and if youre looking to achieve your Certificate III or even upskill in a new area it could come in handy. You can search by course or basic keywords to find a list of training providers near you that can meet your needs. And, what do you know, ESS is on there too! Check out what we can offer and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions... about dates, content or pricing https://www.myskills.gov.au/RegisteredTrainers/Details
01.01.2022 Any thoughts on Tesla revolutionary Elon Musk's proposal to power South Australia with backup battery storage? We're still mulling this one over - is it a good gamble for the SA government to take in order to protect their network? Let us know in the comments.
