25.01.2022 We like to think outside the box at Enerven and yesterday was a great example of this. Enerven is bringing resources from across the entire business to deliver SA Water’s Zero Cost Energy Future Project. Yesterday at the Adelaide Desalination Plant the Distribution team was there to string the new lines that will connect the PV solar array to the adjoining substation. There was a section of the new lines which crossed a small gully with dense shrubs and trees, making it very ...difficult for field crew to access the poles to string them. Our RPA team (Remotely Piloted Aircraft) has developed a creative solution to overcome issues created by highly vegetated areas, difficult to reach terrain, or culturally sensitive areas, and were called in to showcase their skills in this space. The team uses a multirotor aircraft that is capable of stringing a light-weight winch rope, making it the ideal solution to string this section of the line. The RPA Pilot connects the line to the RPA and flies it to the line crew waiting in a bucket, who grabs the rope before it is released by the RPA. Simply repeat this for each line and voila, the difficult section of the line is strung. Great job to everyone involved; another great example showcasing our collaboration and innovative thinking across the business to get the job done, quickly, safely, and effectively! 21.01.2022 2020 marks a massive milestone for one of our employees, with Eric Hurrell hitting 57 years of service with the company. To say congratulations and thank you, we thought we would take a look back at Eric’s career. Eric grew up in Inman Valley, 86km south of Adelaide. He rode horseback to school until he was 14 and didn’t have 240V power in his home or school until 1962. At night he could see the glow of lights from Adelaide, while his home glowed with kerosene lamps; life wa...s good but tough for parents and money was scarce. His Dad took him to chat with the Electricity Trust Apprentice training officer who gave him a The Sky is the Limit apprentice pamphlet, which ultimately sparked his journey with our company. From Electricity Trust, to ETSA, to SA Power Networks, CaMS and then Enerven, it has been a long journey, moving from an apprentice, to an electrical fitter, then into Substation design and drafting, Substation commissioning and then leading the Substation design and engineering groups to the present. Today Eric investigates incidents and develops invaluable reports to ensure processes are improved and issues are not repeated. Over many years, Eric’s reports and their recommendations and findings, have led to many, many improvements in work preparation processes, rearrangements and re-engineering of plant and equipment, adding of instructional signage, correction of incorrect or misleading drawings. Eric or a relevant Supervisor will always brief crews and ElectraNet management as agreed about the learnings from an incident so as to help ensure that we have an informed workforce and issues are not repeated. 19.01.2022 We are pleased to announce we have been awarded the contract for ElectraNet’s Main Grid Infrastructure System Strength Project to design, construct and commission the works required to install two synchronous condensers at the Robertstown Substation. After investigating different options to improve South Australia’s system strength, ElectraNet has had regulatory approval to install synchronous condensers at their substations in regional South Australia; two at the Robertsto...wn Substation and two at the Davenport Substation just outside of Port Augusta. This is a significant project for the South Australian electricity network, as rapid adoption of renewable energy sources has the potential to impact grid stability and increase costs of measures required to maintain system strength. This project will reinforce our system, ensuring a secure system and a more affordable power supply for South Australian customers. 13.01.2022 Last week we got to demonstrate some of our Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) capabilities to our client ElectraNet. We provide a number of maintenance services to ElectraNet and the advances in RPA technology are making these tasks safer, more cost-effective and efficient, and more environmentally friendly than traditional methods. They were certainly impressed seeing what our RPA’s are now capable of. Read more about our RPA services here: https://www.enerven.com.au//ene/remotely-piloted-aircraft/

11.01.2022 Isn’t it nice when things come together? Take a look at this fantastic footage taken at SA Water’s Morgan to Whyalla Pump Station 4 for their Zero Cost Energy Future Project. It is the last pump station on the Morgan to Whyalla line which delivers up to 66,000 megalitres of water annually. This is just one of 35 sites that the Enerven team are currently constructing which will ultimately deliver 242GWh of PV Solar generation and 35MWh of battery storage. This particular sit...e saw around 100 personnel from several South Australian contractors involved over the 4 month construction period and will generate approximately 7.3MW upon completion. The team minimised environmental impacts while on site by reducing the original fence line, which allowed us to keep all the existing trees at site. It is crazy to think that the hard work that went into constructing this site can be summarised in 1 minute, but makes us feel really proud to see all that hard work pay off! Well done team

09.01.2022 We love receiving good news stories from our team in the field (especially on a cold rainy day). Today, while working in Ashton, one of the team from Distribution Services came across this little ball of fluff; wet, cold, scared, and lost Bruce immediately scooped her up and put her in his car to warm up. Luckily his new little friend was wearing a collar so he was able to call the owners and let them know. They were so thankful that their little Annie was returned safe an...d sound Well done Bruce! #FridayFeels

08.01.2022 How amazing are these photos we received from our team working at Olympic Dam? They were out and about and came across this field of Sturt Desert Peas. Sturt Desert Peas are probably the most easily recognised desert wildflower and for those who didn't know, are the floral emblem of South Australia. They thrive in the desert environment which surrounds Roxby Downs, where the Olympic Dam mine site is located. Thanks guys for sharing these amazing photos!

08.01.2022 Last week we were visited by ABC Adelaide at our Angle Park Training Centre to talk to them about our work in the RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft)/ Drone area. The team has been exploring this technology and the innovative ways the aircraft can help our business remain at the forefront of our industry. Using RPA technology for inspection tasks now makes it possible to access areas quickly, safely, and cost-effectively, compared with other asset inspection applications. ... 05.01.2022 Like many other businesses and organisations, we have been reviewing our operations in light of the rapidly evolving situation around the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The health and safety of our staff, clients and their families will remain our highest priority. We have implemented a number of measures to minimise the risks across our organisation, in line with the information provided by State and Federal Government. 03.01.2022 On Sunday, November 1st, fifteen people from our Distribution Services "family" took part in the Cancer Council Australia Relay for Life walk from our St Marys Depot to our Ferryden Park Depot, which is about a 23km trek. Our youngest participant was just 6 months old and our oldest in their 50's, but all made it safely, albeit with some weary legs. Thankfully there were support cars, water stops, and a big BBQ at the finish line. The walk was in recognition of family and f...riends who have endured a battle with cancer. While it seemed a long way, it is nothing compared to the journey of those we remember, know, and love. The team was able to raise over $3,200 for Cancer Council, and smashed their target of $2,000. Well done team! If you'd like to donate, you can still do so here: https://secure.fundraising.cancer.org.au/site/TR

02.01.2022 Spring and summer is a wonderful time of year, warmer weather, flowers blooming, and baby animals This also means it's now the time of year that baby birds will start to leave their nest and are sometimes found on the ground while their parent(s) are nearby. While the baby bird may look abandoned, this is a natural part of their journey to leave the nest, and there is often no need for human intervention. If you're unsure, follow this simple chart to determine the best course of action.

01.01.2022 It’s not every day you get to cuddle a joey as part of the job, but that was all in a days work for one of our apprentices working in the Riverland. Late last week while travelling between construction sites at Swan Reach, one of our Construction Supervisors stumbled across a tiny joey in the middle of the highway with the mother nowhere in sight. Without hesitation, he picked up the little joey and took it back to site where the Fauna Rescue were contacted immediately. The t...eam were given instructions to keep the joey warm against the skin, under a t’shirt or jumper. One of Enerven’s new apprentices, Jacob, immediately put his hand up to keep the joey warm, tucking him in under his shirt until the local carer arrived to pick him up a short time later. We hope the little guy is doing well with his carer in Blanchetown
