25.01.2022 Today is Wear Orange Wednesday! Lets say THANK YOU to Emergency Service Volunteers who work all year round to protect us at our most vulnerable: bushfires, floods, storms or a global pandemic. We thank you for saving lives and protecting communities. #ThankyouSES #NVW2020

25.01.2022 SA State Emergency Service staff and volunteers are deploying to Queensland to support the storm recovery after the severe weather that impacted south east Quee...nsland over the weekend. Thank you to everyone involved in this deployment. We’re proud to assist our fellow emergency services across the nation.

25.01.2022 Wow, its WOW Day! Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is a day to say thank you and recognise SES volunteers for the work they do to keep communities safe. Show yo...ur appreciation and thanks to our wonderful SES volunteers for their hard work and commitment to help South Australians in all types of emergencies. In rain, hail or shine, theyre always here for communities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (or 366 for the leap year!). Here are some ways you can celebrate WOW Day: - Don your loudest orange shirt or dress. - Put on an orange wig or hat (or both!). - Wear some orange socks and/or an orange tie. - Trim your letterbox or windows in orange. - Bake some orange cupcakes. - Get crafty and create a WOW Day poster thanking our volunteers. Share how you celebrate WOW Day and take the time to say thanks to the SES volunteers who give so much. Remember to include #thankyouses and #WOWDay when sharing your WOW Day outfits, decorations or crafts on social media!

24.01.2022 Alongside Ember, We thank and remember all police across the country today.

24.01.2022 If the rain is still pouring or the wind is picking up where you are, make sure to stay indoors and away from windows when the weather is severe. There are also... other ways you can keep yourself and others safe: - Secure and put away loose items around your property. - Put together an emergency kit or check that its fully stocked with what you need, such as a battery-powered radio, torch and spare batteries. - Monitor our warnings and social media, the Bureau of Meteorology website, local media and other reliable sources for information, updates and advice. - Keep a list of emergency contacts handy, just in case. - Bring pets inside. If you need us, call us on 132 500. Our volunteers are always here if you need us. If its a life-threatening emergency, call Triple Zero (000). Want to know more about how you can keep safe in severe weather? Visit our website. https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/site/storm.jsp

24.01.2022 SA State Emergency Service Chief of Staff, Derren Halleday, speaking at the Bureau of Meteorology press conference. With severe weather forecast for the north o...f the state, if you’re camping up that way, avoid parking or setting up camp in creek beds. And, if there’s floodwater nearby, don’t drive, ride, play or walk through it. Keep up-to-date with the latest weather updates by monitoring the Bureau of Meteorology website and social media, local radio, and the SES social media and website. Also check road closures by visiting the SA Infrastructure and Transport Outback Road Warnings: https://www.dpti.sa.gov.au/OutbackRoads If you need SES assistance, call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately.

24.01.2022 thanks to everyone who came to Enfield to prepare their homes for upcoming weather. We are now closed to the public but there are sandbags available outside our gates.

23.01.2022 Do you know what to do?

23.01.2022 What a WoW of a day! Thank you to all the amazing SES volunteers across the country but especially a big thank you to our very own enfielders who spent the day finding and celebrating all things orange! #thankyouses

22.01.2022 Often after incidents, there are the silent services who help restore utilities etc. Thanks to all of them for what they often do behind the scene.

22.01.2022 Happy #WOWDay! Great to join with our Minister Corey Wingard, the Chief Executive of SAFECOM, Dom Lane and the Deputy Chief Officer, Dermot Barry this morning o...n Wear Orange Wednesday for a shout-out to all SES volunteers across the nation. We are tremendously proud and thankful for all who serve with the SES, supporting their communities 24/7 and responding to emergencies of all types. A particular acknowledgement to South Australias SA State Emergency Service volunteers who step up, time and time again - attending over 6100 requests for assistance over the last twelve months alone - on top of a significant contribution to CFSs bushfire response efforts over the fire danger season. It takes real commitment and dedication to build and sustain the skills and knowledge to be able to deliver the capabilities required to safely respond to a wide range of incidents including road crashes, searches, vertical rescues, storm damage, flooding, marine rescues, large animal rescues and as well as the provision of operational support to SA Country Fire Service SA Metropolitan Fire Service, South Australia Police and most recently SA Health. To each and every one of our #volunteers - and your your families a big thank you on WOWDay! #thankyouses.

21.01.2022 Last week we thanked and farewelled our previous Unit Manager Jack while awarding him his ten year service medal. It is a fantastic commitment and milestone to reach ten years and during this time Jack not only worked his way up to unit manager but also attended numerous deployments and assisted with training members to create competent and confident rescue members. He will certainly leave a big hole but his training lives on in our members. ... Thanks Jack for all your service and taking such good care of Enfield! Best wishes for the next chapter of your journey.

20.01.2022 Dont forget free sandbags are available outside the unit at Hoods Rd.

19.01.2022 Damaging wind warning issued. Now is the time to prepare your property and surrounds.

19.01.2022 SES duties can be physically demanding. SASES has worked with human performance specialists to produce fit for task home exercise programs for volunteers. This ...has been very helpful during this period of gym closures. In this photo an Eastern volunteer is exercising to remain fit for a land search task. Remember we are here for you. 19.01.2022 The South Australian roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions was released today, with Step 1 coming into effect from Monday 11 May. The roadmap outlines how CO...VID-19 restrictions will be eased in our state, so our community can return to doing the things they enjoy in a safe and measured way. Every state and territory is different, in terms of its geography and its people. We have taken into account our specific circumstances in South Australia. A number of factors have been considered in determining what can resume, and when. These include deciding what measures can be introduced to lower the risk of transmission, how long people will be in close contact with each other and how much space everyone can have. This is a very important part of our planning for re-opening businesses in a safe way. Our priority is to resume activities which will strengthen our community, restore our economy and improve our physical and mental wellbeing as soon as possible. Our public health response has also been strengthened, including broader testing and faster contact tracing with the COVIDSafe app. Visit www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/recovery to view the roadmap. Frequently Asked Questions will be available soon. Keep up the good work South Australia, and lets not undo all the good.

17.01.2022 The winds are starting to pick up Have you cleaned your gutters? Tied down loose objects? Moved cars away from trees?... Prepared your home for winds and flood? Now is the time to prepare yourself, your home and neighbours for impending weather.

17.01.2022 Last night crews from Enfield worked on what could only be described as a severe mini wind event through the Ingle Farm, Pooraka and Para Hills region. With over 30 formal calls requesting assistance crews faced multiple streets full of trees down and people needing assistance it escalated to well over 60 seperate tasks that needed to be completed with the help of other units and agencies. Well done Enfield crews and a major thank you Campbelltown State Emergency Service, Eastern Suburbs State Emergency Service, Tea Tree Gully State Emergency Service, Noarlunga SES, Western Adelaide SES, city of salisbury council, and the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service for your assistance last night and into the early hours of this morning.

17.01.2022 As part of contingency planning for a potential second wave of COVID-19, SAAS is gaining support from other agencies. A group of SA State Emergency Service volu...nteers have put their hand up to bolster our frontline theyve been trained in driving our ambulance fleet, infection control, CPR and other emergency response requirements. The first batch of training was completed last week, with a second batch scheduled for mid-July. For now, SAAS will maintain normal operations, but we are prepared to engage other agencies in our response, if we do experience a peak in demand due to COVID-19. Thank you to our emergency service colleagues for their eagerness to support our crews and patients. #weareatworkforyou

17.01.2022 Its been a tough time for everyone around the world. Police, emergency services and medical staff are just some of the frontline services that have continued 2...4/7. We are proud of our members and the contribution they make in assisting the community in their time of need. In the media you will see this demonstrated regularly but there is one thing that you dont see and the one thing that enables us all to do what we love doing. None of us could do this without the support from our families. Without them we would not be able to serve the community the way we do. South Australians have always been thankful and let our volunteers know this when they attend rescues, severe weather tasks etc. We appreciate this. Its time for us to do the same. From all of us to the families of our members we say thank you. Without you we can not do what we do. Without you, the community does not have the members to to respond to its needs. #THANKYOUSESFAMILIES

13.01.2022 Its national volunteer week! What are you doing this week to celebrate and say thank you?

12.01.2022 Today marks six months since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in South Australia. Its been a time of ups and downs, with many people affected in differe...nt ways. But above all, we have seen the true spirit of South Australians shine through. We dont need to look far to see how quickly this disease can spread and how dangerous it can be. Lets use this as a reminder to keep up testing, social distancing and hand hygiene.

12.01.2022 Last night we were lucky to have our fellow emergency services comrades Dalkeith Country Fire Service visit our unit to help with burnover training and to show us their appliance. SES members often get asked to assist with delivering food packages, rapid damage assessment, helping in IMT, base camp support and a range of other activities during bushfire season. In order to be safe on the fire grounds crews need to know what to do to keep safe and increase their change of su...rvival in the unlikely event of a burnover which is when a fire is rapidly approaching and will ultimately consume or burnover their vehicle. Many thanks to Dalkeith CFS for coming out last night!

12.01.2022 More rain is expected in the north of the state tomorrow, including in the Flinders and parts of the Riverland, with some strong winds as well. If you live or a...re camping or travelling in those areas, here’s some advice: - Avoid setting up camp or parking your cars in creek beds so you don’t get swept away. - If you’re planning on hiking or going on some walking trails, stay clear of creek beds, floodwater and fast flowing water. - Where there’s floodwater on roads, don’t drive, walk or ride through it since you don’t know what’s occurring under the surface. - Monitor road closures on the SA Infrastructure and Transport website (https://www.dpti.sa.gov.au/OutbackRoads). If you need us, call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately. You can find more tips on our website. https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/site/flood.jsp Photo: Merna Mora Station

11.01.2022 Tomorrow kicks off Mens Health Week for 2020. We feel this is an important week for men, and a timely reminder to get a few checks and check-ins done that we m...ight have been putting off for a while. Throughout the week, we will be sharing various links to forums and information for us all to check out to get a better understanding of the issues men face each and every day. If youre a man, or know one that needs a hand, make sure you reach out to them for a chat, or even a reminder to head off and check-in with professional services when needed.

07.01.2022 To celebrate National Volunteer Week, well be showcasing some of the many ways our SES volunteers help the community and change lives. Storm and Water Damage O...perations as well as Flood and Swiftwater Rescue are two areas our volunteers are trained in, which we saw in action recently during the rains and winds that hit South Australia at the end of April and during May. SES volunteers trained in Storm and Water Damage Operations assist in storm preparation (assisting local communities prepare for storms, maintaining storm response equipment and skills, etc) and storm response (securing damaged buildings and structures, cutting up fallen trees from property, securing damaged roofs and roof tiles, etc). For Flood and Swiftwater Rescue, SES has volunteers trained to rescue people from fast moving water in areas such as stormwater drains, canals, rivers, creeks or flooded fords. Theyre also trained to rescue people stuck in vehicles who have driven into floodwaters. SES Swiftwater Rescuers train in self-rescue techniques, swiftwater hydrology and dynamics, knots and anchors, throwbag rescues, foot entrapment rescues, and much more. Remember, do not drive, ride, walk or play in floodwaters as there are hidden dangers which can cause serious injury. To all our volunteers trained in Storm and Water Damage Operations and/or Flood and Swiftwater Rescue, we say thank you for keeping South Australians safe during severe weather. You can find more information about Storm and Water Damage Operations and Flood and Swiftwater Rescue on our website. 06.01.2022 Big shout out and thanks to Dannii Minogue for Wearing Orange Wednesday!! WoW day

05.01.2022 Deputy Mayor Marnie Doyle, Cr Kate Kunzelmann & I had the pleasure of formally welcoming over 50 SES volunteers from SA, NSW & Nth Qld who are in Ipswich workin...g on homes in Springfield Lakes, Springfield, Rosewood, Willowbank & Thagoona. We are very grateful for the extended SES family for leaving their paid jobs to volunteer to support Ipswich residents. In chatting with the interstate volunteers, many had family connections with Ipswich. Sian from SA told me that her father was born and raised here and she has fond memories of visiting Ipswich as a child, especially Parry’s Corner in Silkstone. Cr Kate’s niece is also part of the Nth Qld SES contingent. Today is forecast to be 38C, it will be a very hot day up on roofs today. So pls have a thought for these hardworking volunteers. #SES
