17.01.2022 After the latest announcements by our Premier and State Government, Engadine Dance Academy and EDA Helensburgh will close its physical doors after tomorrow's (Monday 23/3) classes for an unknown period of time. Like many 'non-essential' businesses, it is time to be global citizens and play our part in helping to 'flatten the curve' and put the health of the broader community at the forefront. For tomorrow's classes I understand that you may choose to keep your children at hom...e and I respect each families individual decision. After 27 years in business I am struggling to come to terms that my livelihood is being put on hold. That my beautiful teachers, student teachers, and students will no longer be a part of my everyday. At least for now...... But the crisis that the world is facing is so much bigger than EDA and I know that so many of our families will also be affected in various ways by what's unfolding. But we will get to the other side. I can't even begin to say how much I will miss seeing our students bounce into the studio, hug each other, make Tik Toks in the kitchen, and dance 'like no one is watching'. I don't know what's next... the unknown of this virus and the time we are living in makes it almost impossible to plan the future. I am staying optimistic that classes will resume alongside other junior sporting organisations towards the end of May. What I do know is that it is important to keep our students moving, creating a new routine for them and also keeping their minds strong. Our children thrive on connection, routine and things that are familiar. So for the rest of this term I will be working on ways that we can bring dance and friendly faces into their lives remotely. I know that EDA will re-open its doors as soon as it possibly can and we will take off where we left off but with bigger smiles and a greater appreciation of the world and of dance. Miss Lauren xxx
