20.01.2022 It's World Oral Health Day ! For the parents - if you have time, supervise/help your children with the teeth brushing routine until you are sure they are brushing well. Try to be mindful that 6-year-old molars are the first back adult molar to come through and most decayed tooth! If you have dental extras, or eligible for Child Dental Benefits (receiving Centrelink Family Tax Benefit A) - book in for a free check & clean. We are now open Saturdays by appointment to help those who find it hard to get in to the dentist during the week. To help with costs - if you have private health dental cover - we do gap-free (health fund only) check-up & cleans for the entire family, and for eligible children receiving Family Tax Benefit A - we bulk bill for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. 10.01.2022 Due to the increasing community transmission of COVID-19 and increasing restrictions on daily practices in Australia, dental clinics have been advised to limit treatment to dental emergencies and urgent dental treatment only. What classifies as dental emergency or urgent dental treatment? - facial swelling - facial trauma... - severe dental pain, usually affecting sleep - abscess or infection - dental trauma or nerve exposure The advice from the Australian Dental Association, Australian Health Protection Principal Committee and Australian Dental Board and other public health authorities is that all non-urgent dental treatment that produce aerosols need to be ceased, due to that a patient who is in the incubation phase may pose transmission risk to staff and other patients. As much as we wish we could provide the full range of care for our patients, the goals for us dentists are now to: - Prevent further spread COVID-19 in the community. - Restrict dental services to reduce transmission risks for COVID-19 - Preserve masks, gloves and other essential PPE for frontline coronavirus health-care workers in hospitals, where stock is running dangerously low. It is important that you do not attend the practice if you have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COIVD-19 or are experiencing symptoms including cough, fever, sore throat or difficulty in breathing, and consult the National Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080. Although the treatments we can provide to you have been restricted for the time being, if you have a dental issue not listed above but are experiencing pain or it is affecting your well-being, please contact the practice and we will aim to help if possible.
