25.01.2022 This morning we had an alert come through to us that something suspicious was happening at the station... upon checking security footage we were relieved to find out it was actually Candy the Elf getting up to mischief!!! We think she was just letting us know that although Santa can’t come round on the truck tonight - she’s still keeping a close watch on all the kids to make sure they are behaving

23.01.2022 We are tracking our way down Mountain Street and currently saying hi to the folks on the corner of Mountain Street and Canyon Place...welcomed by this cute little fuzzy one!

23.01.2022 What would you pack? Think ahead and have it ready to go. Talk to your family so they know exactly what they need to have and when to have it!

23.01.2022 Our local counterparts playing an important role in the flood effort. We work alongside each other often in various incidents and roles and we are super proud of all their efforts during such a significant and difficult event. Well done to each and everyone of you

23.01.2022 Candy is keeping track of Santa for us via the GPS and sending lots of love to everyone during this tough time of the year. Stay safe!

23.01.2022 About to turn into Albatross! Next streets are Oriole and Spoonbill then o towards Mannikin!!! https://glympse.com/0B8P-29RJ

22.01.2022 A crew is attending a call this morning, which appears to be a hotspot/reignition of the Bundanoon Rd Hazard Reduction, which was carried out on Friday. This fire has appeared on the Fires Near Me app, and is already 'Under Control. There is no need for alarm at this moment.

20.01.2022 Santa is getting ready to leave Engadine’s Station 13...stay tuned for updates. You can track Santa’s path by following the link below in Glympse... https://glympse.com/0DHQ-XSSK (If you are using an android phone click ‘I agree’)

20.01.2022 A year ago today we had two crews out at the Green Wattle Creek Fire, along with so many other crews battling it out on the fire ground from Balmoral to Tahmoor and everything in between. Our very own crews found themselves in the thick of it and yet somehow the worse was yet to come. It was a day that changed so many lives, not only those within the service but right across the nation, as we lost two NSW RFS firefighters, Geoffrey Keaton and Andrew O’Dwyer that night out in... Buxton when a tree crushed and overturned their Horsley Park tanker, injuring several others in the vehicle and sending shock waves across the state. While we pause to reflect on the events of that evening, we acknowledge the courage and enormous loss, effort and toll this season would go on to take on our fire fighters, their families and our communities across NSW and grieve the loss of several other fire fighters over the following months. It is important that we check in on those still affected, suffering, grieving and rebuilding and resolve to hold them all steadfastly in our hearts and minds during yet another difficult period ahead of us. Much love and light to you all. Never forgotten and always cherished.

19.01.2022 Good Evening Bundeena, NPWS has advised that the Woodfield Ave Hazard Reduction is likely to take place this coming Wednesday 16/9/2020. This is an extremely im...portant Hazard Reduction, which is a priority for National Parks in providing reduced fuel loads around the Woodfield Ave area. During the Hazard Reduction you will see an increased presence of NSW Rural Fire Service, NPWS and FRNSW vehicles in the area we ask that motorists are extra vigilant with increased movement of emergency service vehicles. With this Hazard Reduction smoke will be seen from Maianbar and Bundeena we ask that 000 is only used to report fires with no NSW Rural Fire Service or FRNSW in attendance. We will provide further information as it becomes available.

19.01.2022 And again today we pause to reflect on a life lost too soon protecting others in a season like no other. Thank you for your sacrifice Colin and much love and light to your beautiful family, friends and colleagues as we hold them all in our hearts once again.

19.01.2022 Due to increasing COVID-19 case numbers in NSW, NSW Health strongly recommends people in NSW wear a mask at all times when in indoor areas. The areas where ma...sks should be worn include: Shopping centres, supermarkets and retail services Public transport Healthcare facilities Aged care facilities Remember, COVID-19 spreads more easily indoors and in settings where you can’t physically distance. Situations where mask use is not expected include: In your home Infants or young children unable to tolerate mask use Where there is a relevant medical condition There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP. 19.01.2022 With forecast strong winds and an already soaked landscape, there is an increased risk of falling trees. This can often result in power lines being brought down. Call '000' in emergencies or 132 500 for NSW SES assistance

19.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP With no live local Engadine RFB Get Ready Weekend event for bushfire safety tips this year as covid number restrictions have ruling ours out - we are doing an online live question and answer session that we will post up. As a starter - what sort of things do you guys and girls want to know about bushfire safety, hazard reductions and warnings that we could refresh for you, inform you about or show you etc???... We’d love your input so we can tailor it to our own community

19.01.2022 Can you imagine? Check out the video below to understand why it is important to be ready for the Bush Fire season. A Bush Fire plan is not a one time thing. I...t should be revisited every year and adjusted where needed. Remember you can get a fire plan from your local brigade, Fire Control Centre, download the App ‘MyFirePlan’ or download a plan from the NSW RFS website and look under ‘Resources’.

18.01.2022 A great insight into weather conditions from Inspector Scott Deller regarding this weekends weather as we move into a heatwave, that despite the current La Niña, could well cause problems for firefighters should a fire occur both locally and afar. Prepare now and know what you would do if a fire was to start near you... Review your plan and ask yourself - HOW FIREPROOF IS YOUR PLAN???

18.01.2022 Santa is making his way around Albatross!!!

18.01.2022 Earlier today we had one of our members join a Sutherland contingency to help out flood affected areas to our North. We wish Susie Corby and the rest of the crews a safe journey while they help out those who are once again doing it tough.

17.01.2022 We’ve heard from Santa and he will be on his way through Engadine and Woronora Heights again this Christmas... all be it with a different flair! Due to COVID and associated health and safety precautions, weve had have a good think on how to keep everyone safe and so with that has come some unfortunate but necessary changes to the way we do our runs. In saying that, we trust you will all still have a great time catching Santa on his run around town as we turn up the Christmas ...Music and spread some Christmas cheer Keep an eye on the page for the run maps and dates which will be placed up shortly! Here’s a few of the changes: This year will be more of a slow gentle parade as Santa will not be able to exit the Vehichle, so we can keep our social distancing practices up and thus, keep our community safe (and Santa of course!) We will not have designated stoping points as these generally attract large numbers of people which is something we need to be mindful of. Instead, we will try to cover more areas as we progress along the routes at a gentle pace! To help you find where we are on our runs, we will have a live Santa Tracker so you can find us if we can’t make it down your street Unfortunately we won’t be handing out candy canes this year as Santa is not able to jump out and have his usual high fives however we do promise a hearty Ho Ho Ho and lots of the usual Christmas Cheer! As we’ve all had a rough year with plenty of financial challenges we are asking that you please keep your spare change in your pocket this jolly season and have an extra Santa cookie with the family instead

17.01.2022 The app has had a gremlin play with it... we are at warrangaree drive! https://glympse.com/0B8P-29RJ

15.01.2022 After a lovely sunny day, Candy is sitting back and relaxing at home, COVID style, after cleaning the gutters and clearing over hanging branches... keeping COVID and Bushfire safe

15.01.2022 MYTH - There’s nothing left to burn... we’ll be right this summer Fact: Only 6.9% of NSW was impacted by bush fire in the 2019/20 fire season. This means there is a significant bush fire risk for the coming 2020/21 fire season. It only takes 5 minutes to improve or make a plan that will give your property, your family and yourself the best chance of survival. Get ready now at myfireplan.com.au #getreadyweekend

14.01.2022 A special thank you to the lovely person who left us a beautifully hand painted stone at the station last night. We appreciate the effort and your kind thoughts and it will take pride of place at our station.

06.01.2022 Dangerous fire weather is forecast tomorrow and will affect the Sutherland Shire with a likely Fire Danger Rating of Severe. This is due to a recent dry spell of only 5mm over November, strong and gusty North Westerly winds, high temperatures and low humidity. 05.01.2022 Crews from Engadine RFS are again attending to the Bundanoon Rd/Woronora Heights Area, where the warmer weather and winds are causing small unburnt areas of the weekends Hazard Reduction area to flare up. Smoke may be visible in the area this afternoon. The wet weather overnight on Saturday and Sunday morning caused some areas of the burn to not completely remove the available fuel. This is allowing some areas to continue to smoulder, even with heavy rain. Planning is underway to finalise this work with a small additional burn on Thursday, weather permitting. Please stay tuned, details to follow in an upcoming post
