24.01.2022 Engadine Rotary helps out another very deserving Engadine couple If you thought that the Covid-19 Virus would have stopped Our activities then think again. Rotary seldom stops. On Friday 24th April, the Rotary Club of Engadine presented a mobility scooter to Roger and Rhondda who live on Poulter Ave, Engadine.... Roger's leg issues led to a recent amputation below the knee and Rhondda contracted breast cancer at the same time. After a mastectomy Rhondda is on the mend. Mike McGarrity of Connect Church alerted Rotary to Roger's need for a mobility scooter which we were able to provide. 22.01.2022 Engadine Rotary supports a deserving local Family For number of years the Wormleaton Family of Engadine had been doing it tough with the transporting of their son Thomas to and from home to school and other events. Thomas is wheelchair bound and had to be carried from his wheelchair into a rear car seat. This had become a hard job for Thomass mum Belinda especially as Thomas has grown in recent years. He is now 9 years old. Thomas was also unhappy at his inability to enter ...the family vehicle by himself. So, the Wormleaton family appealed to Engadine Rotary and the Sutherland Lioness club to help fund a family vehicle that would allow Thomas to enter and be seated by himself. Engadine Rotary and Sutherland Lionesses undertook fundraising that enabled the Wormleaton family to purchase a vehicle. An application was then made to the NDIS to fund modifications that allowed Thomas to run his wheelchair into the rear hatch door of the familys new Kia Carnival To see the end of this story control click to is https://engadinerotary.org.au//engadine-rotary-supports-a- See more

20.01.2022 On Saturday 23 May, Engadine Rotary will celebrate its 47th birthday having been charted in 1973. For more about our history go to https://engadinerotary.org.au/sitep/about-engadine-rotary-1. Throughout those years, Rotary has undergone considerable change in step with changing times and recessions . Even today with the Covid Virus and its restrictions on meetings, the Club has had to move to video conferencing capability using Zoom. This has enabled club members to have ...face to face communications remotely and continue with its business of Serving our Community. See recent donation of mobile scooter at https://engadinerotary.org.au//engadine-rotary-helps-out-a Over these years, Our mission has not varied and continues to embrace the ideals of Rotary International, contributing to a better Engadine District and a better world through significant service while providing extraordinary opportunities for networking, fellowship, friendship and personal growth. 02.01.2022 Rotary in Australia approaching a major Milestone How long has Rotary been in Australia ? Twenty , Thirty , Forty Fifty years ? Well you're a long way short . Let me tell you about the story of Rotary In Australia ... From a beginning in Chicago USA in February 1905, through a vision of Paul Harris (1868-1947), Rotary began to grow in the USA ,Canada ,Uk and Irelend, (https://www.rotary.org/en/looking-back-wwi) . Even during World War I, Rotary in Britain increased from 9 to 22 clubs,[13] with other early clubs in Cuba in 1916, Philippines in 1919 and India in 1920. In 1921, Rotary International ( then called the International Association of Rotary Clubs) decided to expand Rotary into Australia and New Zealand by sending two Canadian Commissioners Jim Davidson and James Layton Ralston, to establish clubs in Sydney ,Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington. 02.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Engadine regretfully announces the cancellation of our annual Community Carols night. Our Carols Committee has been in discussions with the Shire council and has been advised that due to the current restricts still in place around social distancing and group gatherings, that our Carols event cannot comply and would not likely be approved this year. Further, under the current virus restrictions in the State, it is unlikely that they would be lifted before C...hristmas; our Carols are normally held in December each year. Also with such a large gathering, this Club is not able to collect details on those that attend the event for contact tracing. Should an breakout of the virus occur then the club would be in a difficult legal situation. As a consequence, Engadine Rotary regretfully has decided to cancel this year’s event. Hopefully we will see you at next year's Carols in December 2021. But be advised that Engadine Rotary is still continuing with a number of Humanitarian projects such as supporting the One Meal program ( https://www.facebook.com/onemeal14/ ) and Malaria Vaccine Research ( https://imb.uq.edu.au//potential-malaria-killer-designed-a ) amongst a number of other similar projects. We have now re-introduced the Engadine Community Markets held on the first Sunday of each month and are selling tickets in the Cook Raffle which can be purchased for our members each Saturday. (See http://www.cookcommunityclassic.com.au/fundraising-raffle/ ) for details Finally be advised that Engadine Rotary has recommenced its regular Monday night meetings at the Engadine Bowling Club within the Virus requirements. Those wishing to attend are asked to call Sam on 9520 3264 by Friday 4.00 pm before each meeting. Like our current logo below Rotary Opens Opportunities so why not consider becoming a member ( see our Website for membership details at ( https://engadinerotary.org.au/page/become-a-member )
