24.01.2022 Most people cannot imagine how devastating it would be to be taken from your family, stripped of your culture, your language, and your whole identity. The white Australia policy of our past did exactly that to many First Australians and the effects are still felt through the generations today. Jack Charles tells some of his story in this clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch

21.01.2022 Our congregation partners with Uniting World to support church leadership and child protection training in Timor Leste. Please pray for all those affected - oh, and lobby our government to compensate the Timor Leste government for the gas royalties that Australia stole, so they have enough money of their own for infrastructure projects that assist with mitigation and adaptation to extreme weather events.
21.01.2022 For over 15 years, our congregation has been supporting Project Youth with our weekly collections of food and non-grocery items. Project Youth provide a wide range of assistance to Shire youth who just need some extra help to stay connected, safe, achieving and healthy.

18.01.2022 What nonsense is Jesus suggesting in this week’s parable of the wedding banquet? Abundant life, no discrimination - we are overwhelmed by the hospitality Jesus offers, and are likewise called to offer hospitality, goodness and grace to all we meet. Read Paul’s sermon and chosen prayers for this Sunday here: https://engadine.uca.org.au/online-services/
18.01.2022 Our congregation has been hearing from members of Voices for Power, a Sydney Alliance Project bringing powerful migrant communities together on energy and climate for a better future. Here is another opportunity to watch their 14min doco on the work of the last three years: who, what, why, where and how.

15.01.2022 Let’s Live the Change as we meet, and in our homes!
14.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020, "Always Was, Always Will Be", recognises that First Nations Peoples have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Starting... TODAY, NAIDOC Week 2020 invites all Australians to see, hear and learn about the 65,000+ year history of this country. We are reminded that this country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming, First Nations Peoples transformed the harshest continent into a land of bounty. 10.01.2022 Metaphorically ar least, whilst we may experience the depths of Good Friday and the heights of Easter Day, this day in the Christian calendar (Holy Saturday) is often where we live. May we know peace and strength in these waiting and in-between times

09.01.2022 As Christians, we hope for the well-being of both the planet and people. It is stated in our most foundational prayer, Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. As disciples of Christ this is not just a prayer to speak but a prayer to be lived. This season can be celebrated by spending time in nature, spending time in prayer and reflection, considering ways to inhabit our common home more sustainably, and lifting our voices in the public sphere.

04.01.2022 When you have a heart for people and the planet, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the great need we encounter. It is important to take time to look after yourself and seek peace from our God, who is greater than all that we face.
04.01.2022 This prayer for Beirut was penned by Rev Gaby Kobrossi of Bankstown Uniting, Chair of the UCAs Middle East National Conference. UnitingWorld have launched an appeal to support recovery efforts for those affected by the recent explosion. In a joint letter, Uniting Church president Dr Deirdre Palmer joined Uniting Worlds National Director Dr Sureka Goringe in expressing solidarity with those affected. www.insights.uca.org.au/unitingworld-launch-beirut-appeal
03.01.2022 Building more social housing to end homelessness requires more than governments stumping up the money - it requires communities to willingly accept the construction of social housing in their midst, and open their arms to the occupants. Next time the council approves social housing development, will you join a protest against it or step up and support it? Sign petitions today but support action when it happens: www.everybodyshome.com.au #HomelessnessWeek #AllOfThisIsUs #OurCommunity
03.01.2022 Uniting World provides support to local groups on the ground who are in the best position to know who needs what. Right now theyre feeding some of the internally-displaced Sudanese who have fled their homes because of political violence.
03.01.2022 Last week Uniting Church leaders called on the Government to prioritise measures to support women, but this budget prioritises incentives for construction over sectors which employ high numbers of women and which would generate far more overall economic benefits. Read the Uniting Church response here: https://uniting.church/budget-lacks-vision/
02.01.2022 Did you see Shane giving his educational talk about bee-keeping at the weekend Climate Fest? Never fear - heres an 11-min clip you can watch now! https://www.facebook.com/watch/
02.01.2022 The damaging effects of colonisation are still felt today by First Australian people. If you are Australian - this history is part of your story.
