22.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be The NAIDOC Week 2020 theme recognises First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.... This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. For more information on NAIDOC week and how to get involved, visit www.naidoc.org.au.

21.01.2022 International Day of the Girl Feat. pocket rocket Billie Russell Speed Skater ... The world is home to more than 1.1 billion girls under age 18, who are poised to become the largest generation of female leaders, entrepreneurs and change-makers the world has ever seen Progress for adolescent girls has not kept pace with the realities they face today, and Covid-19 has reinforced many of these gaps. This year, under the theme, My Voice, Our Equal Future, let’s seize the opportunity to be inspired by what adolescent girls see as the change they want, the solutions - big and small - they are leading and demanding across the globe Source: un.org

17.01.2022 Massive thumbs up (and lots of cheering behind the scenes) for Melbourne's covid-19 restrictions finally easing We absolutely cannot wait to see many local clubs reopen and return to training (and, later, competition) in a few weeks' time No doubt there are more challenges to come but this is a huge hurdle to overcome and we say well done to every single Victorian for enduring this challenging time

12.01.2022 ON THIS DAY 20 YEARS AGO Australian Cathy Freeman wins 400m gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games And who could forget THAT suit - a Lycra masterpiece! But did you know that it inspired an Australian-designed space suit, which made it all the way to the International Space Station? Designed at RMIT over more than 15 years, the skin-tight space suit mimics the "Earth loading" on the body. The suit was tested in space to establish its ability to reduce the impact o...f zero gravity on the human body, in particular whether it could minimise the amount the spine stretched. Astronauts' spines stretch by up to seven centimetres in space, a physiological change which causes mild to debilitating pain. Dubbed the "SkinSuit", it is suitable for exploring other worlds from the moon to Mars and beyond. It could also have more earthly applications, such as providing support for cerebral palsy or bedridden patients. Getty images Article Source: www.smh.com.au

05.01.2022 Could Jai Hindley be Australia's first ever Giro d'Italia winner, and second ever Grand Tour winner? He enters the final stage of the Giro as the race leader, with a lead of just 0.86 seconds. It is the first time a Grand Tour will be decided in the final stage with less than a second between the leader and second-placed rider It all rests on tonight's individual time trial, a nail-biting 15.7km sprint in Italy's north, crossing the finish line in Milan ... On another note, the Giro is renowned for awesome artwork and this year is no exception. Loving these designs Great inspo for our design team

04.01.2022 An incredible finish gives stage 11 victory to the pocket rocket Caleb Ewan In a role reversal of the previous stage, Ewan burst through the pack, skirted around the edge of Irishman Sam Bennett, then threw his bike over the line to win by the narrowest of margins This was Ewan's second stage win of this year's race, and his fifth since last year's debut. "I'm happy to give the folks back home in Australia something to cheer" said Ewan. "Once you get one [stage win] you... want two, and now I have two I want a third on the Champs Elysees in Paris". Bring it on mate 1. AFP, 2 & 3. TDF, 4. Caleb Ewan

03.01.2022 C'mon Richie you Aussie legend

02.01.2022 Great news for the Aussie cycling world

02.01.2022 Victory is sweet - Caleb Ewan you little ripper The Pocket Rocket reached a top speed of 68.8km/h in the sprint across the line to clinch the stage 3 win "In the last k (kilometre) I was a bit too far forward so I dropped back a bit into the wheels. That gave me time to rest the legs just a little before the last hit out" Ewan said, noting that the win "proves that last year wasn't just a fluke" when he claimed 3 stage wins. @paulineballet via @letourdefrance
