25.01.2022 INTERACTIVE PLANNING GAME Congratulations to Nicholas Stevens from the Urban Design and Town Planning Program, along with Jo Rosier, Ben Rolfe, Nicholas Hansen, Uwe Terton and Christian Jones. On Friday night they won the Queensland state award in the category cutting edge research and teaching, at the Planning Institute of Australia’s (Qld) awards ceremony. ‘To be nominated as a finalist was a big achievement for the team, to win is fantastic’. Excitingly, the project was al...so then announced as the ‘overall winner’ across all categories, for the best project in Queensland for 2018! That is an awesome achievement against local, state, and private sector planning projects of all kinds. We now go onto the National PIA Awards in May 2019. It is important also to acknowledge Jason Riddell for his ongoing use, promotion and enthusiasm for the planning game; and Julie Flanagan who supported the board game version, back in 2012; and Robyn Warne who keeps finding great opportunities to play the game with the next generation of planners. Also, of note is that the digital version started life as a C-SALT Exploratory Learning and Teaching Grant in 2013. Well done to everyone involved! This is great for USC, Engage Research Lab, Social Sciences, Creative Industries, the Urban Design and Town Planning Program, and also the Bachelor of Design (Games). -Planning-game https://www.engageresearch.org/our-apps https://www.engageresearch.org/
